Yep, that's all I've seen and that info is only for the current "leg" that you're on. So if I'm on a 50 mile trip and I'm to turn onto a new road in 1 mile all I'll see is the ETA of sorts until I need to make that turn.

Thanks for the help, I was hoping I was missing something. I do think it's a shame however that with all the data that the GPS receiver is sending to my laptop that S&T won't tell you when you'll arrive at your destination. Not a big deal for around town trips but would be nice for longer trips. I know it's a standard feature in the Garmin line of products and PC software.

Thanks again for the help!

To be more constructive, i suggest that you add this requested feature in the wish list, in a hope that it would be added to a future version of the product .

I have good news for S&T keys 2009 progress

The new S&T Keys 2009 v2.53.7 beta3 version is here (see download below)

This version has a big improvement in reliability. I think it is reliable enough now to be used without crashing S&T 2009. It is based on the good work began for the 2009 version by Toyfountain. There are still some parts that are not well debugged, but starting from this version i will begin to use it on my laptop because it is not crashing S&T 2009 anymore

What's new:

1- Start option tab has been reworked to be similar as S&T 2009 GPS pane and all possible options have been implemented including GPS trail and navigation view.

2- Navigate option tab has been reworked to be similar as S&T 2009 GPS pane and all possible options have been implemented including GPS trail and navigation view.

3- Corrected some text in F1 help

4- Changed the message splash for not moving mouse and keyboard to a smaller size similar as S&T 2007 (it was too much bigger and hide message when opening an old .est file for conversion). This is preference other than functionnality.

5- Added the map view and navigation view feature everywhere it is needed.

6- F6 place pushpin function on the map can now work in dynamic turn mode (and not just in centered mode). But feature has been tested only for the moment at 1024X768 screen resolution (and subject to end stop issue below). But it looks interesting... If the GPS icon is not on the map, it will let the pushpin in the centered of the map and user would need to click it manually to place it permanently on the map... Because it will try to locate the red GPS icon, this color must not be used on the map by the user.

Corrected issues:

1- Corrected most of the many issues that make S&T 2009 freezing while using S&T Keys. This was the main purpose of this release, to make it more reliable without adding a lot of feature.

2- Temporary removal of the check upgrade choice in the tasktray icon.

3- Corrected problem in F4 menu between create trail and navigate/map view button that had same G shortcut key when used from the menu.

4- Corrected the F6 push pin function, so it can now place a push pin in the correct center of the screen, and if the GPS navigation icon is found, it will place the push pin on the GPS icon instead (tested only at 1024x768 resolution for the moment, more tests to tweak probably). Correct the problem so it cannot be used in navigation view (only in map view and not full screen for the moment).

5- Correct many buttons in the on screen F4 menu that must be disable in some situations to avoid causing some crash in S&T gui, when they are not allowed (this help the reliability a bit ).

6- Correct some problems with the new buttons A,O,G on the F4 menu that cause some S&T freezing sometimes.

7- Corrected a problem with the gps trail feature that was not working all the time.

8- Now there is no trace of perspective view anymore, it has been corrected to the similar mode navigation view.

9- Corrected the default buttons in start and navigate option tab so they are working with the new fields in these tabs.

10- Corrected a problem with the navigation and S&T safety prompt that cause some problem and potential crash.

11- Corrected a problem when using F5 key and the GPS is already tracking in certain situations.

12- Corrected a problem of the gps icon that can be outside of the screen (if the map view was zoomed in or panned somewhere that force the gps icon to be outside of the screen while tracking is active and not in map view centered mode) when the vehicule is not moving. This could happens in dynamic turn view mode and navigation view mode. Actually, while activating navigation (using the F5 key as an example), this will force a map centering first around the gps icon before beginning the dynamic turn view mode or the navigation view mode, so the gps icon is always in the middle of the screen, no matter where is was before pressing the F5 key. It will force to start navigation with the gps icon near the center of the map, even if the car is not moving...

Known issues:

Actually, there are still some not tested parts and i am planning to work on it soon. I will add informations here if i am finding something in the near future.

1- F6 function may detect end-stop instead of GPS icon if both are on the screen. It is not tested for now outside of 1024x768 resolution. But you are free to try it at other resolution and report the result before i have some time to verify it myself. Future version may add a more precise routine for GPS icon localization for detecting between stop/gps icon.

2- F6 push pin function must be prevented in full screen navigation.

3- POIscanner (toyfountain tool) is not working correctly with this version. S&T keys will generate an error at startup when trying to load the tool, when the tool is located in the same directory of S&T keys (the way to use the tool). The problem was discovered too late for the fix to be included in this beta release (Update information: the problem is located in POI Scanner and not in S&T Keys 2009, that is not compatible with S&T 2009).

4- In start and navigation tab of options menu, check boxes have been used instead of radio buttons for implementation of MapView/NavigationView selection to avoid conflict in these windows with the radio buttons for Dynamic turn/center (i didn't find any other way to use radio buttons). This is purely esthetic rather than a problem. And it will cause curious behavior when first used, as these check boxes behave much more as radio buttons than check boxes (two click in a row on the same unchecked box will unexpectedly revert the choice to the opposite choice :-), which is desired behavior...)

I'm glad you are working on the 2009 version MM. I haven't had time since my accident.

I have good news for S&T keys 2009 progress

The new S&T Keys 2009 v2.53.7 beta4 version is here (see download below)

This version has minor issue correction and enhancement (i hope)

What's new:

1- F6 pushpin function has been enhanced to detect correctly the GPS icon even when the END point icon is on the screen at the same time (some exception where END point is just above GPS icon may cause some position deviation) and place the pushpin in the center of GPS icon. GPS icon tracking speed has been enhanced also, and it should track GPS location better.
F6 key can now be used anywhere. But some compromises has been made. Here are the GPS icon tracking performance regarding what was the setup before pressing F6 key:

a) Normal navigation MapView mode: FASTEST SPEED
b) Fullscreen navigation Mapview mode: GOOD SPEED
c) Normal navigation NavigationView mode: SLOW SPEED
d) Fullscreen navigation NavigationView mode: SLOWLIEST SPEED

Warning: this function is still not heavily tested while driving. It has been optimized for a fast computer, so if you have a slowmo :-), it may cause some surprises. Feel free to experiment and report bugs so we can make it reliable.

Corrected issues:

1- Corrected the problem of "ghost" option panel that stay forever on screen while pressing F2 key and that the option panel was already on the screen.

Known issues:

Actually, there are still some not tested parts and i am planning to work on it soon. I will add informations here if i am finding something in the near future.

2- +/- onscreen zoom buttons are not working in Fullscreen mode (use keyboard +/- keys for cheap zooming).

3- V and X buttons are not working in Fullscreen mode. C and Z buttons are not always working correctly in fullscreen and may caused erratic behavior (like changing the route may cause problem) (workaround, do not use these keys in FS :-) ).

4- In fullscreen, using Q,S,P,H,T buttons will keep the direction pane stuck on the screen (workaround press F11 2 times to remove it).

5- While F4 menu is onscreen, F9 function key is disabled (must use touch screen button instead).

6- While in FS mode, with F4 menu on screen, insert key pressed makes not closing the F4 menu, reacts erractically with gps trail setting and makes once the F4 menu is closing, the map window is out of focus, meaning the onscreen buttons disappear...

7- When using F4 keyboard key for menu, it does not remove on screen buttons as compare of when using on screen F4 button.

8- When in fullscreen using many hotkeys and F4 menu functions (like G), this remove focus from the map which cause problem for the zooming functions. Workaround is to click in the map.

I hope you are not too bad now, and that the accident was not so severe.

I did not begin to work on POI Scanner, but it is not compatible anymore with S&T 2009, it is crashing at start up. My main efforts are on S&T keys 2009...

Nobody was seriously hurt ( my wife and kids were there), but finding another van to replace the old one set me back two weeks in my chores. I just finished installing my tempo shelter and winter tires for the replacement van. Usually that's done near the first. I still have to adjust the tablet I made for the laptop since the console in the new van is not the same as the old one.

For the POI Scanner problem was it version 1.8.0? and if so what is the error message you are getting? I'll try to take a look at it after christmas or you can if you want to. The source code is included with the download.

Yes, POI Scanner v1.8.0. It is simply crashing at startup, i don't remember the exact message. Once S&T Keys 2009 is up to my taste, i might take a look at the other one. For the moments, i have a couple of idea i want to implement in S&T Keys

Hi vsayachit,

:welcome: to Laptop GPS World.

I'm not sure what the problem may be. I just downloaded the latest version 4 with no problem.

Do you get some error message when trying to download?

Hi Marvin,

Thanks for the prompt response. I did not get any error message. The download stopped half way through. Let me give it a try once again.

I have seen that the forum web site stopped working for around a minute or so, i think it was yesterday night. I was online and trying to access the forum and suddenly it stopped working. Any other web site was working at the same moment. Maybe it is related to your problem

Would there be a chance you could add Mappoint 2009 support to this? I went through the au3 file & changed all obvious references (registry & names) but it still tells me it cant find mappoint.exe
