I like the "KISS" principle... and like practicality. For my vote, Please don't over-engineer a help into a hinderance for Joe Sixpack. You have me a bit concerned
Sorry i don't really understand what you mean exactly? Are you concerned about too much functionnality in S&T keys 2009?
If you are not sure of the keyboard keys to press for a specific function, forget about help, just press <F4> keyboard key or F4 touch screen button with the map (if you have a touch screen) and you can easily select a button in the on screen menu for the specific function you want.

S&T keys 2009 is a free program. I am mainly programming it so it is usefull for me (yes i know i am a little selfish ). So you can submit new functionnality you may like. But if you mean you want a stripped down version that do a lot less than the actual version, you would probably need to strip it... yourself .

I will release an official stable version very soon that you may use to build a new strip down one, if it is what you mean

Unfortunatly, i am planning to add additionnal functions i will try usefull later in future versions. But you can continue to use the one you like (and stripped down by you if you don't need the extra features that i have added).

I am opened to comments anyway for improvement, but i cannot keep all idea if as a user, i am not satisfied with these idea myself (because i am building it mainly for myself, and sharing the work freely for others that can use the source to modify it if they want)

As you may noticed, the 2009 version is based on previous version of the original work from Marvin H. and Toyfountain, modified by myself to my taste. So there is nothing that keeps other user to begin new modifications of this work if needed, and start a new branch version...

I appreciate the work that you are doing.

I loved S&T keys for '08. I loved it because they were simple, common sense, keep-your-eyes-on-the-road, not-on-your-mouse solutions. Thank You very much for that.

I am simply stating that if you add a lot of "functions" that could be easily and accidentally activated while feeling around for the space bar, but poorly understood and not used by the average user, the user friendliness will be much less enticing to some of us non-code writers who couldn't master Dbase or DOS.

In my imagination, I could easily see your "more functionality" as my "state of more confusion".

You are of course free to write any Programme you'd like, I was simply making a request for simplicity in it.

Perhaps in retrospect, I should just appreciate the end result, which I am sure I will.

Creeker, I know what you mean. A simpler product may attract more users than one with too many advanced features. Let's see how it develops. I'm just glad MisterMoonlight continues working on the project.

Ok now i can understand. Just give your comments about what was easy in the 2008 version (i have never used because i jumped from 2007 to 2009 version) and is confusing in the actual 2009 version. I could try to improve if it is possible. One option could be to add an "easy mode" and "advanced mode" in a future version.

But you would have to be more specific about your suggestion. Actually your comment is a way to general to give me an idea of what can cause you a problem.

A release version of S&T Keys 2009 is now available. This is closing the beta phase and this thread at the same time.

Please do not post in this thread anymore.
