Map not showing after transfer from Mapsource

Be gentle its my first ever post..
I am having a little trouble getting the U.K. side of city navigator working and have several questions.
Do you have to be in the country that you have loaded into Garmin Mobile PC for it to work and browse.
I ask this because the system works fine in Australia.
Im using City navigator Aust 2008 gmpc 5.0050 and the correct mapsource to transfer.
With the australian map it transfers fine and runs great.
With th U.K. city navigator nt europe v9 it transfers great but when you go to view map there is no map but only the blank yellow screen and the sign down the bottom "no map".
All registered all operated on nroute perfectly.
I can browse on mapsource.
What have i done wrong or is it a grey moment.

A couple of things come to mind;

Is the Europe map a locked version? If so you need Mobile PC with the Garmin GPS to unlock it to.

You probably know that you must transfer all maps you want at the same time. Each time you transfer a map the previous one is erased (except the built-in one).

Did you look in Tools-Manage My Data-Map Sets and click on the MapSource button? The maps you added should show there.

I have the software only version using a usb 18 gps(cos i had this already and was using it with nroute.
Hope that is not the problem.
I bought software from a local GME dealer and nearly bought the one with the gps.
The only thing is it works fine with the australia maps.
How do you insert image.
Not to good with computers.

As I don't believe there is a version of Mobile PC that comes with Australia maps (correct me if I'm wrong), the Australia maps you added are not locked. A locked map needs a device to unlock to and Mobile PC doesn't qualify. If you had the version that includes the GPS, you unlock the map to that GPS.

To insert an image, you need to use the 'Go Advanced' button below your reply window. That will present you with an 'Additional Options' header containing a 'Manage Attachments' button. Click on that and upload the appropriate image from your computer.

If you need directions on creating an image, we can probably help you with that too.

Never let a wife get further than an iron as far as electronics go.

Is there any way to get the new one going and is there any word from garmin as to when they are fixing it.

She deleted only one file? We all make mistakes . I bought my very first computer in 1995. Few weeks into using it I discovered Windows Explorer. I though I was so smart when I discovered many files in Windows Explorer which were dated before 1995; before the purchase of my computer. Of course I though they were not my files, so I started to delete them all one by one :rofl". A few minutes later my brand new PC was no longer usable .

No word from Garmin about an update. Presumably it will come in their good time.

Read this thread about using two versions of Mapsource at the same time on your PC. It seems to work well with 6.13.7 and 6.14.1. It doesn't take up much more space than just having one version installed. Now that you're back on the old version it will be easy to follow the steps I describe.

Hi gang new problem
went out and bought the europe 2009 nt disk and all installed correct.
i did the dual mapsource thing and works a treat(although pointless having the new version if you cant tranfer).
anyway the new mapsource opens up right and you can see my 2008 aust v9 europe and 2009 europe
the old version does not show the 2009 europe
any ideas

found a solution albeit dodgy
there is a convertor out there to modify 2009 files back to old format

The NT format is perfectly acceptable to MapSource. The problem you are experiencing is 6.13.7 is not seeing it, possibly because of the dual installation.

I can not test that right now but may get a chance tomorrow. I'll let you know.

EDIT - Did you install the Europe NT maps before you tried the dual MapSource installation or after? I have 6.13.7 and 6.14.1 on this computer and both see all my maps. However, I haven't tried installing a map after adding a second MapSource.
