You've done a lot of excellent work with this version, MisterMoonlight!

I'll read your feature list a bit later today, and then I will download it and play with it to see how it works.

Mister Moonlight, does this work on MapPoint 2009 as well?

Currently (for Europe) I'm running MapPoint 2009. I'm about to create an add-on similar to S&T/AR Keys. However it should be of specific help in case one doesn't have a keyboard (like I do when using the Asus R2H in the car.)

One of the harder parts will be a POI notification that I would like to write. At run time I want to download new POI coordinates for speed cams and put them as POI's in MapPoint. Then I want to have the programm check if a POI of that type is nearby. If so a sound should be played.
Have you got any idea on how to arrange something like this?

I'm using the MapPoint 2009 object model with Visual Basic .Net.

Thanks!

re: S&T Keys for Streets & Trips 2009 Comments And Questions

What i know so far is that it is not working with MapPoint 2009. Probably only minor needed modifications are requiered.

The only problem is that i don't have mappoint 2009 and cannot afford this type of expense for a free tool. Because my main purpose is to get a fresh version of S&T as often as possible to keep having fresh map data, switching to a more expensive product would keep me from doing this.

But probably, better reliability could be achieved by using the programming support of mappoint instead of this scripting tool. This is the direction i would go myself for mappoint, instead of relying on a modified version of S&T Keys.

But as a first attempt, you may try to modify S&T Keys to make it compatible. The source are compiled with autoit v3.2.10.0.

There are a couple of improvements and bugs corrections needed to make POI scanner working and reliable with S&T 2009...

I agree with MisterMoonlight. The only reason AutoIt scripting tool was used to create S&T Keys, is that Streets & Trips is not programmable like its bigger brother MapPoint.

You can potentially achieve much better results with MapPoint. I'd suggest you to visit Eric's MapForums MapPoint Forums -- there you will find many MapPoint programmers able to answer your questions better than anyone of us here.

When you create something, please do let us know. Unfortunately AutoRoute has been discontinued, but I believe there still are quite a few people in Europe who need the functionality, and who will be willing to spend the money to buy MapPoint Europe.

If you wish, you are more than welcome to host your future add-on here at the forum. Best of luck!

Marvin,

I have already subscribed to the Mapforums forum, but for some reason the activation E-mail is not sent to my mail address. It seems to be a site where I can find everything I need! Thanks!

Plantje, let Eric know ( http://www.mapforums.com/sendmessage.php ), I'm sure he will correct it. You may also try to check your e-mail junk folder, if perhaps the registration confirmation e-mail ended up there.

Yes, I've sent out an E-mail.

My junk mail was empty. Perhaps I can use one of my other E-mail addresses.

Ow...by the way: obviously any delivered add ons will be posted here and on the gpspassion forums, completely free of charge.

re: S&T Keys for Streets & Trips 2009 Comments And Questions

MisterMoonlight, I'm just playing with S&T Keys 2009, and one of the things I've noticed is that the old screensaver feature could be now removed, since Streets & Trips 2009 now has the same functionality already built-in.

If you feel like removing it, I just looked to your included .au3 file, you could remove the code:

* line #260 $KillScreenSaver = IniRead(@UserProfileDir & "\Keys.ini", "Section1", "KillScreenSaver", 0)

* starting on line #770 If $KillScreenSaver = 1 Then
* ending on line #782 EndIf

* starting on line #3227 Case $msg = $checkScreenSaver And BitAND(GUICtrlRead($checkScreenSaver), 1) = 1
* ending on line #3232 Global $KillScreenSaver = 0

* two lines, 3671 and 3672, starting with $checkScreenSaver = GUICtrlCreateCheckbox.........

Yes it is possible that a couple of things need cleanup, like the appearance (grayed out) of virtual AR2009 on the general tab of options (which would never exist). This mean some Gui cleanup as well. It was not my main purpose in this version. I wanted to release a version as quick as possible well debugged with at least no feature that are not working.

May be you can add your suggestions (move the threads) to the
S&T Keys for Streets & Trips 2009 Wish List .
These changes would need to modify the product documentation page as well...

One other thing that is coming in my mind is S&T Keys would probably gain in speed by optimizing the code...

re: S&T Keys for Streets & Trips 2009 Comments And Questions

It's not a big deal, MM, just a minor suggestion. The part of the code mentioned above (lines #770 to #782) is in the main While loop, so I though it would be useful to get rid of it.
