Hi I heard that there are modules for Streets and Trips which can be downloaded that will show all Federal and State campgrounds.
We travel a lot in our motorhome and find Streets very weak at finding a Public campground
Thanks

Welcome. I go to http://www.poi-factory.com/ for my custom POI's that I want. They have one for campgrounds. You will want to download the CSV format and import it into Streets and trips.

Also, under the Tips & Tricks for Streets & Trips topic in this forum, you might want to check out #024. It will take you to the Discovery Owners add in files for the various mapping programs. The txt files for Streets and Trips are over on the right hand side of the page. I believe that you will find both Federal and State Park Campgrounds in their listings.

Go to http://www.discoveryowners.com/cginfolinks.htm It's part of a web site for Discovery Motorhome owners. It has many overlays including Wal-Marts, Sams, Pilot Stations, bridge clearances and state parks for all 50 states. They in DeLorme, S&T, Co-Pilot and .txt format.

I've spent some time combining several different POI lists into one (or 3 regional) POI list that lists all federal (NPS, USFS, COE, BLM, BR, etc), state, county, city/municipal and other agencies. You can download a list for the entire Lower 48, or separate lists for Eastern, Central or Western US here: http://wxtoad.com/index.asp?page=gps/gps1.htm

Wxtoad, I participate in a couple of RV forums. Do you mind if I post the web address there also?

Not at all. Happy to have folks download them. Ted

This is one of the replies from the forum where I posted the address:

I downloaded the eastern public CGs. It is in Excel. I had to add the names, Longitude and Latitude in that order heading the first and second column. Using Street Atlas 2009+ it placed all of the CGs exactly and provided the names. This is a great data set. Thanks.

I agree it was a great data set. I converted it to csv. and had to add in the longitude, latitude and name category but it was a minor detail.

I do a lot of camping and my mother and father in law do also and they wanted to stick to these type of campgrounds so I can't wait to give them the file.

I also converted it to KMZ for Google earth.

Hi Ted. Nicely done! Thanks for posting the link.

Thanks, guys, for your kind comments. It continues to be a work in progress as I keep finding new public CG's here and there. I'll plan to update the posted files periodically. Also, if anyone knows about any local county and/or city parks, please email me the info at wxtoad@yahoo.com . Thanks, Ted

What is the best way to merge multiple POI csv files and then bring them into S&T cleanly?

I got a bunch of Garmin csv exports off POI Factory, but would like to combine all the Florida data (state parks, banks, etc.) into one file.

Is that done manually with, say, Excel, or is there a better way?
Thanks

emagin, I would likely do what you have suggested, combine the data in an Excel file.

I just read S&T Blog, a review of a source of POIs for RV travelers: REVIEW: RV Directions 2009 POI CD

By the way, regular visitors to S&T Blog may notice the old profile picture which included a box shot of MS Streets & Trips has recently been replaced by the faces of two guys who are obviously having too much fun . The new picture is of Gladwin (right) and Larry (left), both active members here at Laptop GPS World. It was the only picture they had of the both of them, and Larry liked it because they were having fun at the Microsoft museum/visitor's center and they took the picture there.
