Streets & Trips Position Reporting

All,

I am new to this forum and have looked for a search feature and can't find it. Maybe my settings are not right. But, that isn't the real point.

My point in posting is this - I am using MS Streets & Trips 2009 and would like to have my laptop use my AT&T card to post updates to a map somewhere so my family can keep an eye on my progress. Is there any simple solution to this?

I have done quite a bit of Googling and found some ways to kind of kluge things together , but I am looking for a turn-key solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks,

Phil

I've never found a feature like this in S&T. I was interested in doing this in the past, but never got around to it. I had a couple of links in my notes that might be able to get you started:

goopstechnologies.com

gpsgate.com

Goops is a user interface that plots position and tracks on top of Google Earth. It works with the gpsgate buddy tracking server.

Gpsgate is a well-known software package that allows you to split the data from a single GPS device into multiple data streams, but they also have a 'buddy tracking' service that might be free. Don't know if you have to own their software to use it.

As kcflyer mentioned, GPSGate Buddy Tracker service is probably what you are looking for. It's a turnkey solution for what you want to do.

The GPSGate program splits your GPS receiver's signal so it continues to go to S&T and also goes to the Buddy Tracker service. The service can be set up so your location is available to the general public or just to private groups that you set up.
