Greetings from Lima, Peru to all forum members!
I am trying to install Garmin Mobile PC (currently version 5.00.60) into my HP laptop running Windows XP SP3 and I am running into a serious problem, as the software will not start up!
When I try to run the program I see some HD activity for about a minute or so but nothing comes up on the screen... If I open up Windows Task Manager I can see QUE.EXE is running (with 0 CPU usage and very low memory use.
Just to see what happened I installed everything on my desktop running Windows 2000 SP 4 (yes, some of us still like/use Windows 2000 ) and everything worked fine.
I know it could be one of a thousand things causing this, but thought someone else might have run into this very same problem?
Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't have a solution, and I hope someone else suggests something to try. I suspect it could be some conflict with something else installed on your laptop.

Reinstall Garmin Mobile PC completely from DVD. After that start apply all previous updates,from version 50.0.10 and up.
It should fix your problem.
P.S. another solution is: download update 50.0.60 to your Win 2000 PC,burn a CD and apply to your hp PC where you use Garmin Mobile.

Unfortunately, I had a HDD crash when trying to create another partition to do a clean install of XP and see if GMPC would work there...
Right now my major concern is to try and restore/recover my HDD as, as you can well assume, I had no backup! Was it over confidence that killed the cat?
Will get back to you guys with results as soon as I get my laptop working again!
