Hi. Could someone be so kind as to tell me if Garmin Mobile PC is compatible with Magellan GPS 315-320. Thank you and best regards.

Garmin Mobile PC is a software program that runs on a computer. If you mean, can you use the Magellan as a GPS receiver to provide data to the computer, then it depends whether the Magellan puts out a standard NMEA signal. As it is a 10 year old or so device, it would be easier if you bought a inexpensive dedicated USB GPS receiver for use with Mobile PC.

I might add that later versions of Mobile PC are not good at finding GPS receivers on real COM ports (the 9 pin-type connectors on the back of older computers). I just retested mine (5.00.60) with an eMap physically attached to COM 1 and GMPC could not find it. However it did lock onto a BT GPS unit 25 feet away in another room (on a different floor) that I had forgotten to turn off. I had confirmed that the eMap signal was good with GPS Gate.

Good point, Terry. And for the price of GPSGate you can buy a decent modern GPS receiver that will get a location lock much quicker and hold it in much more difficult conditions.

Mobile PC is ok with USB GPS receivers and is the best I've seen with Bluetooth ones. It is the only navigation program I have used that queries Bluetooth directly for a GPS. That means you don't even have to set the GPS up in Bluetooth and try to remember the COM port assigned to use GMPC. I wish it hadn't lost its ability to work with lowly real COM ports and built-in GPS though. They still show in the serial port list but GMPC appears to ignore them.

Thank you, guys! I tried, and it worked OK, and with Microsoft AutoRoute, too.
