Microsoft Streets and Trips Imported Data

I use Streets and Trips 2006 in conjunction with MS Excel to manage a 2000+ entry contact data base for sales. Is there a way to creat a bidirectional link with excel so that when a change is made to the excel list the push pin in Streets will be updated and if information is added to the push pin the excel sheet will be updated?

Also, I have data from several spreadsheets imported to the map. Each creats its own pushpin set. Is there a way to move all pushpins to a common set once they are imported into streets. Or, export all pushpin data in the map to a seperate excel sheet for consolidation?

Thanks

I don't know if you can do this in mappoint, but to my knowledge, this feature (bidirectional link with excel sheet) does not exist in S&T 2009.

All you can do is to keep your excel sheet as the source and each time you enter a lot of new locations, delete the pushpins set in S&T and import from the excel source file again...

You can do it in Mappoint with the Link Data Wizard. There is a Mappoint free 60-day trial download available. It's fully featured. The only limitation is that it stops working after 60 days if you don't buy it.

Streets&Trips is strictly one way. You can get it in but once it's in there there's no way you're getting it back out.

Can a Streets and Trips map with data be opened in Mappoint without a third party translator? I know that both are Microsoft products so I would think it would.

Hi chastjones,

Yes there is a way. If you right-click on the pushpin on the map and choose properties, you can change the dataset name from the dropdown menu then click <OK>

This will move it into whatever pushpin set you choose.

It might be easier to do the merging in the spreadsheet prior to importing the data if you have large data sets.

Hope that helps,
Larry
