MS Streets and Trips 2009 and Excel

Hello,

Received feedback MS Streets and Trips 2009 may actually be more robust than MS Mappoint so I thought I would try the 60 day trial. Does any one know if Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009 can be imported into MS Excel and have customized data to populate different aspects of the map? Thanks.

You cannot transfer data from Streets&Trips to Excel.

You can transfer data from Excel to Streets&Trips.

You can transfer data both ways between Mappoint and Excel.

I am not aware of any evidence that Mappoint is any less robust than Streets&Trips.

Hi beau, and welcome to the forum. The advantage of Streets & Trips is that a new version releases annually, and it is much less expensive than MapPoint. However, MapPoint can do a few things which Streets & Trips can't, as Ken already touched on.

It is highly unlikely that S&T is significantly more robust than Mappoint, as they are both built from essentially the same codebase. I've used both. I've seen both crash. I've also used both for a whole day of driving without seeing a single problem.

S&T essentially contains only the subset of Mappoint features dealing with trip planning and navigation (with some exceptions). In addition to missing features, S&T also does not supply any of the geographically-encoded data that Mappoint comes with.

Thanks everyone for getting back to me and especially to you too, Ken

What I am really trying to do is import excel data (from excel cells) onto Streets & Trips.

If I were to show data for a particular range (let's say postal code (zipcode) then each year I just need to update excel cells and presto the data is transferred to the appropriate aspects on the map.

And if MS Streets and Trips can do this, it would be fantastic.

Ken, do you think this is doable?

Thanks again.

Beau

You have to import the excel data in s&t and next year when new excel data are available, you just have to delete the excel data related pushpin set in S&T and then you have to import again your new data.

Best is that you can just download the 60 days trial and try it for yourself, you will see if it fits your needs...
