Street map of Thailand?

Hello, if there is someone who can show me where I can find a free GPS map for Thailand ?

My GPS don't work with Google Earth.

Hi Almwirt. Welcome to the forum. What kind of GPS do you have? I think any laptop GPS receiver (USB or Bluetooth) should work with Google Earth. But if you are looking for other map source, go to our Garmin Mobile PC - FAQ, and look for an item titled Free Garmin Maps by Country. Those map you could use within Garmin Mobile PC software on your laptop computer. More on it in our Garmin Mobile PC forum.

No GPS receiver will work with Google Earth before version 5. You need Google Earth version 5 (or Google Earth Pro, which costs money) to use a GPS with it.

As Marvin said, not all GPS receivers will work with laptop navigation programs so you need to tell us what GPS you have.

thanks for your quickly answer. The Model of my GPS Receiver is from Polaris Name: Travel Honey. 65 Channels, NMEA 0183. I also tried it with Microsoft Auto Route 2007, but without succes. I hope you can help me.

I suspect the included CD should contain Windows software driver required to enable the unit to function as a USB GPS receiver. Such driver should create a virtual com port on your laptop. Microsoft AutoRoute (and other mapping software) would then be able to "see" the USB GPS receiver at that com port.

I always receivethe message: The receiver is sending data, make sure that he send protocol 2.0, Baudrate 4800.

I checked at the device manager that it's sending Baudrate 4800, but I am not sure about the protocol.

Is AutoRoute 2007 giving you this type of message? It is possible all is working just fine, and you just need to go outdoor, so the USB GPS receiver can see the satellites in the sky better. Often GPS just doesn't work indoor, when we do our testing, etc.

Yes Microsoft is giving me this message. I have good signals here now it's working with google earth. But I need Microsoft Auto Route.
The divice is connectet with com 35, all drivers are up to date and I still always the same message about the protocol. In the user's manual I can not find anything about the protocol, but the seller at e - bay told me that it's working with microsoft.

I could find NMEA 0183 at my device. Is that helpful ?

NMEA 0183 is fine, and the unit should work with Microsoft AutoRoute, and most other programs.

Andreas, make sure no other software is trying to use the GPS receiver (close Google Earth, etc), and then start AutoRoute 2007. In the GPS pane (Ctrl+A) click the "Configure GPS ..." button, and then press the "Scan" button. Let it find the USB GPS receiver, then try again if it works.

The only information I could find on a Polaris GPS states data rates of 9600 or 115,200 Bps. These rates are not supported by S&T or Autoroute. I think GPS Gate could resolve this but it would be cheaper to get a different GPS if you want to use Autoroute.

That's likely the issue, Terry . AutoRoute can only work with 4,800 bps, so if the unit only provides higher baud rate, it will not work. GPS Gate should be the answer (try the free trial).

The COM port also should be set to 9600 if it has been changed to 4800. I don't know that those settings make any difference but if they do, it might be preventing the GPS from working with Google Earth.
