A Canadian... looking for Canadian source for iGuidance?

Hello All

My first post...so we'll make it count.

I am looking for a Canadian source to purchase iGuidance for my CarPC project.

I know I can buy it directly from the states, but there is two thoughts I have when considering this:
  • First, duties and brokerage fees are killer. Sometimes 25% original purchase...plus @ 1.30 exchange...
  • Second, most importantly a small business owner local is far better for my local economy then a business 5000 kms away in the states

I am located in Burlington, Ontario...live in the Ancaster, Ontario area

looking forward to the replys

-Chris

GPS Central (Calgary) has iGuidance 4 on sale. You could call their tollfree number to see if they have anything newer available or if they can get it for you.

CanadaGPS is a store I once used about a year ago, when I needed to quickly buy iGuidance 4 as a gift for someone. It is an online store, but you are welcome to make a pick up arrangement and save shipping cost. The pickup location is a small UPS store on Hwy 7 @ Kennedy Road in Markham.

I just checked if they have the new iGuidance 2009, and it seems they do.

Ken,

Gee that is difficult choice for me. It has big positives.
At Can$80!!!! And it can be loaded onto both ppc and laptop.
The catch is that it is slightly more outdated than the newer 2009 version which restricts the use to either ppc or netbook. Not both.
Anyway thanks for bringing it up
I have iG 3 on an Asus ppc and CNNA 2009 on my netbook.
My wife has been b***** about me getting so many gps backup.

Daniel,

My wife teases me about my toys. But as long as I pay all the bills first, she doesn't bit*h at me. She does occasionally ask me why I need so many GPSs when I never got lost before I had them.

I'm one of those rare guys who is happy to ask for directions.

As far as I know there is nothing other than your own honesty that enforces the two computer limit with Streets&Trips. iGuidance has a key and activation process that absolutely limits you.

Ken,
The latest S&T is limited to 2 activations. Street Atlas is an honour system.

That's correct, I too have S&T 2009, and it's capped at 2...

Oops, I was thinking I had the latest version but I've got 2008, not 2009. Sorry about that. My how time flies....

Yeah, believe 2008 is when they started the limit, along with the DVD format.

...and iGuidance 2009 was the first version that actually had the year in the product name. Earlier versions ware named iGuidance 4, iGuidance 3, etc.
