Asus Eee PC 701 and Microsoft Streets & Trips questions
Abigbug
Hi guys,

I am new to this forum.

I am using Asus Eee PC 701 netbook + Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007, couple questions here:

1. I don't know why I can't get the text instruction (at the below of map) even though I setup a route plan?
2. I can't get text to speech as well, not any voice at all.

Thanks so much in advance if someone can help me!!

To get text to speech instruction, the navigation pane must be enabled on screen (if you are navigating in full screen view, it is at bottom of screen). Verify also in fullscreen mode by presssing the F7 key to mute/unmute the text to speech

Thanks MisterMoonlight,

I figured it out. I didn't hit Get Direction button on route planer pane after I create a plan.

But here is another question, if I am driving on the way, but it is NOT the route designed by S&T, how can I get back to this route with any text to speech. So far, I always get "Process to route" message.

And is there any tips I can setup to get a specific place, like a build or somewhere accurately? So far, I only type in a zipcode, but you know, it will lead me to a area not a specific point I want to go. (A building Num should be the best?)

1- If you are not on the route anymore, you have 3 choices:

a) try to get back to the route by yourself by stopping and looking at the screen (i guess this one you won't like it )

b) press F3 key while navigating and it will calculate a new route for yourself from your gps position (take care if you are using this solution to always delete the past stop points you don't need anymore because route recalculation can by mistake return you back to an old stop point if not far away)

c) in S&T 2008 and 2009, there are an auto route recalculation feature that avoid to press the F3 key and will always recalculate a route. (in S&T 2008, this is mandatory, and in 2009 version, it is a real option that can be disabled. For myself, i am always keeping this option disable because it can mess things with your planned route and i prefer to press F3 key only when it is really needed)

Comment: if you want to use the F3 route recalculation option, i suggest you install S&T Keys 2007 (you can see a link in my signature), it will add a hotkey (DEL) that will always clean all previous stop points you went by, so in case you need to press the F3 key later, it is very usefull to avoid you going back to a previous stop point. There is no manual for the old 2007 version, but you may take a look at the 2009 version of S&T Keys and the online manual (web page) is mostly very similar to the 2007 version...

This is really useful!

Sorry again for another question, how can I input the special letters in S&T 2007 english version for some europe place name, such as Mozartstraße ? It looks S&T doesn't recognize it. Pls help.

Do you know there is any resource for new user to learn S&T, video or pic tutorial?

Thanks a lot
MisterMoonlight
S&T 2007 is for north america only. There are no europe maps included...

Is your software Microsoft autoroute 2007?
