Garmin nuMaps Europe available in Canada
Ken in Regina
GPS Central has City Navigator Europe maps available and in stock now.

They also have City Navigator Australia and the 24K US Topos available.

EDIT for clarification of motive: I'm not recommending these products to anyone for any particular use. Recently there have been some queries in here about sources for non-North America Garmin map products in Canada. Since GPS Central is offering these, it is possible that they can acquire similar products if someone phones and asks.

I don't see Garmin Mobile PC on the list of compatible products today. Do you think there would be a way to use it within Mobile PC and/or nRoute?

The City Navigator Europe maps will work just fine:

1. With Mobile PC by unlocking it to the receiver of one of the hardware bundles (GPS10x or GPS20).

2. With nroute by unlocking it to any Garmin receiver.

I can state this with some confidence because we know this from previous testing that has been done and discussed in a number of threads here over the past few months.

The only catch (and maybe this is what you were getting at?) will be that:

1. The receiver itself should be a model that is already on the lifetime maps approved list, and

2. Don't tell the person on the Garmin end of the line that it will be used with Mobile PC or nroute because they are likely to instantly say that they aren't supported. You will probably have little success convincing them that the lifetime maps program is about the hardware receiver (because that's what you are unlocking the maps to), not the software. So it's best to keep your mouth shut.

I posted the information mostly because if GPS Central is selling the lifetime maps for City Navigator Europe they can probably be persuaded to get you the full distribution and some folks were wanting to know where to get it in Canada.

Ken,
As the newer maps don't work with nRoute without major massaging, I can't see how you could recommend this approach except to a select few. I think the same problem would exist with Mobile PC but have not had to experiment with this.

Hi Terry.

Small correction. I didn't recommend anything to anyone. I posted some information that people can use as they wish.

Please see the last paragraph of my last post wherein I point out my main purpose for the original post was to indicate that if GPS Central is carrying this variation of the City Navigator Europe product they might be persuaded to also supply the full version for anyone who is looking for a Canadian source.

hmmm.... perhaps I should just go back and edit it accordingly before someone else thinks I'm recommending something.

Ken,
you are right. Marvin got us off track by trying to relate this to laptop stuff.
