Can Streets and Trips 2009 optimize stops?

Hello,
I must say for a first time poster, this is a great site for GPS based systems. Quite an impressive, and sometimes overwhelming amount of info on here. Anyhow, let me get to my question. I am going to be purchasing Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009 very soon (JUST downloaded trial and haven't used it yet). It is going to be for my laptop in my car(law enforcement). I work in a warrants section and we serve LOADS of warrants every day, all day. What I need to know is there any way this program can enable me to enter for example, 35 different stops each day, and automatically route them in order by start/stop from closest to farthest away? This would save SOO much time so I don't have to drive in a circle to get to an address in an area I might not now like the back of my hand. We are county wide so our zones are pretty large. I guess I would want to route my stops for efficiency like a delivery service(ie FedEx/UPS). Is it possible? I hope so. Thanks and again great website!

Yes

There is a function to optimize stops. You may give it a try. In the route planner pane, you will see a "optimize stops" button at the bottom of the screen...

Hi quicksr20,

Welcome to the forum .

You can find the "Optimize Stops" button at the bottom of the Route Planner pane. It becomes enabled when 4 or more stops are added to a route. S&T will not shift your starting point or your final destination point only the stops in between.

Forum member Timbo2132 put this feature to the test when he wanted to plan a trip to visit every state capital in the lower 48 states. He entered them all into S&T and let the software figure out the best route! (see thumbnail below)

He did a nice job documenting his trip on his website: http://www.timbotrip.com/trip-schedule/
