Globalsat BT-335 Discontinued
sailorskip
As I mentioned in another thread, I'm currently searching for the best logging GPS Bluetooth receiver for my needs. For a whole bunch of reasons I settled on the Globalsat BT-335 (BT-338 + logging) and put the unit on the wishlist for my upcoming birthday. The best price I found in Canada was from CanadaGPS for less than $80 ($CDN) including taxes. My wife just informed me that they're no longer accepting orders for the BT-335 as it's being discontinued. (The story of my life....)

I phoned up Globalsat US to get the full story and yes, it is currently 'going end-of-life' according to their sales people. They are still shipping it until stock depletes. I asked about a replacement and they say that one is currently in development but they have not been given a date for first samples yet. Apparently the US office has submitted some additional feature item requests. They want the new unit to have additional memory and improved battery capacity. Sounds like it could be awhile.

So that leaves me with the choice of buying a disappearing product (at a higher price than budgeted) or start the whole selection process all over. I still like the Globalsat unit and will search for other retail sources to help the decision making process.
