What is Garmin RoadTrip Supposed to be Able to Do?

I recently bought a Nuvi which came with a free US map download and some free software called RoadTrip. Honestly, it's pretty cool. However, I can't figure out how to get it to show my current position as delivered by my NEMA GPS (Nuvi won't output position but the BU-353 will). Am I just being useless at computers, or is the RoadTrip software not supposed to be able to do this?

I think Road Trip is the Apple equivalent to MapSource on the PC. It allows you to find favourite locations and plan routes; then transfer them to your Nuvi. It is not GPS aware. In previous days, there was a PC program called nRoute for the PC which is GPS aware but I don't think it works on Macs anyway.

Terry is correct. RoadTrip is the MAC equivalent to MapSource. They are for map management and trip planning. Neither of them have any navigation functions.

nRoute has the same user interface as MapSource but has fewer trip planning features and has a complete set of navigation features. As Terry said, it's getting old and Garmin no longer supports it. Some of us still find it useful and it's free. It's only useful if you have Mapsource and some Garmin or Garmin-compatible maps already installed.

I don't think Garmin has any navigation program (say, equivalent to Mobile PC) for the MAC.
