I think they sent to me the wrong version of Garmin Mobile PC
batman
I have already loaded a Garmin Mobile PC Europe DVD which title is “Quick Start DVD” (Part Number: 190-00880-01 Rev C although I asked for Part No 010-00685-01 and paid £99.44) onto my laptop. Before I have used nRoute and I was disappointed with the graphic of this new software. It is very elementary. This DVD has the following Part# 007-01449-02 Rev B and it doesn’t ask for a lock number. This software was sold to me by gps Warehouse. I think they sent to me the wrong software. Could you please give a better advice? Shall I send the package back? In order to see that the product was wrong I had to open the box. Any help much appreciated.

The software only Mobile PC DVDs I have contain a large green sticker inside the DVD case under the book of instructions. The code is on that. If that is what you ordered and there is no green sticker, send it back.

Terry, the part number he ordered is the GPS20x bundle. There will NOT be a green sticker with a Product key on it because Mobile PC will activate on the GPS20x that came with it.

Batman, Does the label on the DVD say:

Garmin Mobile PC
quick start DVD

and did you receive a GPS20x USB receiver in the package?

If so, you have received the right package.

Mobile PC is very different than nRoute. If you prefer the 2D view that you see with nRoute you can change Mobile PC. It's not obvious how to do it. Here's how:

- On the main screen, click SETTINGS

- Click MAP

- Click ORIENTATION

- Select either "North Up" or "Track Up", your preference.

Now Mobile PC will display the map in 2D mode like nRoute.

What things do you not like about the Mobile PC graphic display?

Thanks Ken,

It is very reassuring to know that I have the right software anyway. I have waited for this software more than 4-weeks to be frustrated with the graphics which made me believe I had received the wrong software. I have worked with the nRoute software for more than 5-years and I was happy to know every detail of it.

The present graphic reminded me of software that I bought a long time ago with the name of “Pilot something” (USA). I remember that I didn’t like the graphics, perhaps it was 3D as you said or I didn’t try enough with the present Garmin PC GPS 20X bundle to understand it.

My main observation of the Garmin Mobile PC graphics is that the screen doesn’t give the big picture of what is going on. It concentrates on very few choices and in order to find one choice I have to click the back button sometimes more than once. If I don’t have the exact address the software doesn’t allow me to proceed. In summary, the graphics is not very intuitive (at this time, perhaps). In nRoute you have everything in only one screen and you just click the button where you want to go. In PC Mobile you are presented with just very few choices and in order to have more information I have to press the back button. nRoute I think follows the intuitive manner than I have been accustomed with software from Windows operating system and it’s application software.

Thank you again for your help. Is there something like a tutorial (in this forum) where I could go for a try and shorten my learning curve?
