Will the new ublox 5 Microsoft GPS locator work with old Streets & Trips 2004?

I'm trying to take an old Dell and use it just for nav purposes. It has Streets & Trips 2004 and I've purchased the 2009 version for another laptop that I would rather not use in my work truck. The '09 version also came with the U-Blox 5 GPS locator. Does anyone know if there are drivers available for the '04 version that will work with the U Blox? Or should I just ask, does anyone have an antenna from an old verion that they would like to part with.

You wouldn't need anything special to make the uBlox work with S&T 2004. Just load the driver from the disk and it should provide you with a COM port. Set 2004 to monitor that COM port under Tools-GPS-Configure GPS Receiver.

The driver required is ubloxusb.sys. If the operating system is XP, plug in the GPS and let it find the driver on the DVD or at Windows Update. You can probably do this in Win 98 as well but it is a little more difficult. What o/s is the Dell running?

To clarify -- Terry means that you should insert the S&T 2009 DVD, because that has the drivers. Once the drivers are installed, you can use the uBlox with any navigation software, including S&T 2004.

Note that Streets & Trips 2009 requires Windows XP or above, so I wouldn't expect the drivers to work on Win9x.

taoyue,
Yes I did not make that clear. However, going to the Windows Update site is probably even better as the driver may be newer.

Thank you both. Sorry my reply is delayed I was having a hard time logging in.
The old Dell is running Windows ME and I did try to get the drivers off the '09 disk, no luck. And I just realized that the '09 is a DVD. That won't run on the old Dell. I will try the update site.
Thanks

I think you're out of luck. The computer is just too old to be used with modern peripherals.

ublox does not post drivers for Win9x operating systems (including Me) on its own web site: USB Drivers Requires Windows 2000 or above.

I would not expect Windows Update to carry drivers either, since it is simply a consolidated interface to drivers provided by individual manufacturers.

GPS Gate might be able to find it. My son in law has it on an old Dell running Windows 98 and we managed to set up a Garmin 20x via GPS Gate to run a NMEA program. I think we had to do a search for new hardware to install the USB GPS first. We may have had appropriate drivers though as nRoute was already on the computer.

If I can get my hands on the laptop, I'll try it with the uBlox.
