Which software to use with Open GPS maps on laptop PC with USB GPS?

I managed to get Garmin 'MapSource' and 'nRoute' with New Zealand maps loaded to my Asus EeePC. These programs will not recognize my USB GPS (GPS NMEA to 0183B. M)... Is there another software that I can try that will also recognize the GPS and The NZ Open GPS maps that MapSource can... I hope this all makes sense.

Please look in the Garmin Mobile PC - FAQ. I have just placed a message in there that describes how to use an NMEA receiver with nRoute. You may see some other messages in the FAQ that will be helpful for using Mapsource and nRoute.

Thanks Ken... I downloaded GPSGate and my nmea gps started working with nRoute. Now I have an Asus eeepc 8gig with xp working as a GPS... VERY> VERY> COOL... Thanks Again.

I started checking If I could use my little eeepc as a GPS and one thing lead to another. I might do a trip sometime and I hope I can navigate using it... Now I have to learn the features of 'nRoute'.
If anyone needs help with loading xp onto eeepc and and using it as a GPS, I can help. CHEERS...!
