Installing Garmin POI Loader

Hello,

I am new here, been reading a while, but no posts.

I have the 2009 Garmin Mobile PC with the 20x GPS and downloaded Garmin's POI Loader. After installation a screen comes up asking me to select where I would like to save my POI files.
1. Garmin Device
2. Mapsource
3. Custom folder

No device, but do I choose Mapsource? I don't have that app, but from what I have read it would be the appropriate choice.

You don´t have but must install MapSource...
First if you want to edit routes and or wpts for transferring latelly to Garmin Mobile PC...

Also... with Mapsource installed ,in Utilities/Obtain Unit ID... it lets you Find GMPC... From now on dont even need to attach GPS 20x for transferring anythinf to GMPC.

Search in the Forum from where and how to install Mapsource

Mapsource is the other way to transfer data to GMPc...(as PoiLoader does);but as what MS transfer goes to My Favourites... the latter sends to Custom POI`s of Interrest...

Is MapSource available from Garmin, maybe free?

Mapsource is a very confusing issue, per other threads as well at POI Factory forums.

Not free... but legally instaled following this links...

1.http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835
Download and install; this lets you continue installing Mapsource.
Fisrt try Version 6.13.7 (lately , if you like, upgrade to the last V 6.15.6)

2.http://www8.garmin.com/software/MapSource_6137.exe

3.Reinstall the whole dvd pack of Garmin Mobile PC...this will install now the World base Map and USA Map 2 Mapsource ( and of course rewrites the maps on GMPc).

Now you are able to transfer and to recibe to and from GMPc...

No, you do not need Mapsource to load the POIs. Just select "Garmin Device". The POI loader should discover Mobile PC and offer it as a selection.

Garmin support utilities like POI loader and Mapsource see Mobile PC as a "Garmin Device" so you can transfer stuff to it just as if it was a Nuvi or something like that.

Garmin PC is indeed a choice, but the first time I tried to install, it wasn't there!

Now the installer wants to know a directory. Usually this is automatic, so I am not sure which folder to put it in. I have a Garmin folder with only USB drivers and then Program files there is a GarminMobilePC folder. I assume it should go there.

Any info would be greatly appreciated
