Can USB GPS receiver from Streets & Trips work with non-Microsoft software?

Can the USB GPS dongle for MS Streets & Trips work with any other GPS software, eg: Google?

It works fine with other software. I use mine on a range of different GPS based applications.

x2. I've used my Microsoft receivers with Garmin's Mobile PC, iNav's iGuidance and DeLorme's Street Atlas.
