A genealogist asks: Does Microsoft Streets & Trips 2010 have cemetery locations?

A question was raised about the new Microsoft Streets and Trips 2010:

Gordon, some cemeteries have been listed in the Landmarks category, but the "Find nearby places" feature in Streets & Trips 2010 doesn't have a cemetery category (even though some new categories have been added in this version). However, that should not stop you in trying to use Streets & Trips for searching for any type of business. Especially while connected to the Internet, S&T has access to a very large database (see the screen shot above).

I know this is the Microsoft Streets and Trips thread, but if cemeteries are important, DeLorme Street Atlas can be set to show them.

Are there any POI data bases of cemeteries available online from POI Factory or some such? If so, create a pushpin set.
Marvin Hlavac

Now that Streets and Trips 2010 has much improved pushpin management, using pushpins may become fun even for those of us who didn't like to use them in the past.

Cemeteries and graveyards are scattered throughout the country. (A graveyard is adjacent to and usually maintained by a church; a cemetery is any other burial place.) There are so many small family cemeteries and church graveyards, it might be impossible to chart them. Several times a year you read about a construction site where an old unmarked and uncharted cemetery has been unearthed.

Since there is a genealogical interest here, I doubt that there is a single source of location information. Talking to the locals in an area might be more productive.

I could only find one North American listing for a cemetery list on POIFriend. It's for "Historic National Cemeteries in the US".
