Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009 does not see my Garmin 60CSx
Pegleg
Unit is set to NMEA in/out, 4800 baud and laptop sees unit but Streets & Trips says "no GPS". 60 CSx works with Trailer Life fine with the same settings why not Streets & Trips?

Did you set S&T to look at the same COM port as the one that worked with Trailer Life?

Hey Pegleg,

Streets&Trips can't see GPS data directly on a USB port so if your 60CSx is USB-connected you need something to get the data onto a virtual COM port. I use GPSGate Express with my eTrex Legend HCx to get S&T to see the GPS location data coming in.

Pegleg, welcome to Laptop GPS World.

Just to add to the previous two postings, you could also consider buying a special cable/adapter from Garmin for this, but that could end up being even more expensive than GPS Gate, or a simple USB GPS receiver for your laptop.

Ah, this sounds just like what my Deluo GPS unit is doing. It too is a USB unit.
Their support team had me download a port replicator to make it work. It did, but was a pain to keep using, and I still got crashes where S&T lost seeing the antenna.

This GPS unit worked on all the early versions of S&T, but to 2006. With 2006 forward I had nothing but trouble with the Deluo unit. It is a nice waterproof unit with a strong magnet, and a long cord.

My solution was to buy Streets & Trips 2008 with the Microsoft GPS antenna, which has a USB connector.
But it works, every time. Just the cord is too short for my liking.

Hi snakeman48, and welcome to the forums. If the included USB extension is too short for your needs, likely you can buy a longer USB extension cable for about $1 in a local store.
