Pushpin Questions MS Streets & Trips 2008
t1d
Still learning the program... Not finding the answers in the Help File...

Once I have developed a Pushpin on a route and saved the map, how do I access that pushpin on a new route/map?

Is there anyway to have all my pushpins show universally on all new route/maps? Or, just a partcular pushpin set?

I guess I really just need an "In-service" on pushpin management after their creation...

Thanks for your help...
Larry
Hi t1dunn,

If you double click on the saved map file (.est) it will open up just the way you saved it with the pushpins that you have created.

Keep you questions coming - this is a great place to come for answers.

... and just to add to Larry's answer, if you plan on doing a lot of work with pushpins, the new 2010 version may be more suitable for you than your 2008 version. There are a couple of long awaited user requested pushpin management features in the new Streets & Trips 2010.

Thank you so much for your replies and greeting. Perhaps I was not clear. I need to know how to use pushpins made in and saved to one map on another map. I could not find a way to copy and paste. I really will only have a limited number of pushpins and it would be fine with me if I could have them all appear on a new map when I start a new route. Looking forward to your reply...

When you save a map, it is saved with the name you gave it and an '.est' extension usually in 'My Documents'. If you click on that file as Larry suggests rather than opening S&T, it will open that map in S&T with your existing pushpins intact.

Another method involves opening S&T normally. If you click on 'File' in the menu bar, your recently saved files will appear at the bottom of the list. Click on the one you want to open it.

1- From that point, you can just "Save as" another file name and start from that new file to create the new map and you will have the pushpin in it.

or

2-You can also open the left "legend" pane from the original file, check for the pushpin set there and you will be able to copy the pushpin set to another map by using copy and paste technique...

Thanks so much for the clarification... Now, I get it... Open the map that has the pushpins I want already on it... I guess that would beg the question of how to remove the route that already exists on that map before creating the new route...

I understand about the necessity to re-save to a new file...

I am not so sure I know how to find/open the legend...

Thanks, again. You are really helping...

Right click on the highlighted route line and choose 'Clear Route'.

From the menu View-Panes-Legend and Overview. Or just type CTRL G.

... alternatively, you could open the Route Planner (Ctrl+R), and there you could delete all (or some) of your stops.

Very good instruction... Found everything... Thank you, once again! I could create a pushpin template map with my pushpins, but no route, and save it. Then I could open it, do my routing and re-save under another name. I am ever so grateful...
