Hi Allan,

Welcome to Laptop GPS World forums!

Yes, that's a very good question! Unfortunately I don't have a satisfactory answer for you . Only the new Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 is supported by the new Vista version of S&T Keys. The 2007 version of Streets & Trips will not work well at all with the previous version of S&T Keys on Vista . So I'm afraid the only solution I can offer is to spend the ~$30 and buy the new Streets & Trips 2008.

Try this one below. I modified it. It has the OSK keyboard disabled for users of Windows Vista while leaving it enabled for the other operating systems.

If you happen to have the POI Scanner in the same file directory as Keys, it will start it too.

edit: I've modified all the versions of Keys with a fix to have the osk keyboard work with Vista. Just look for version 2.43 for 2006-2007 and 2.55 for 2008.

Cool !!! I linked this thread from the download area.

I modified all the versions in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 thread for users with Vista.
v2.42.7

For 2008, v2.53.7 enables the OSK keyboard if another OS than Vista is used. It does get a small bug with it when closing S&T2008 if Keys is still open before I close S&T. It wants to send an error report to MS. Since it does not interfere when it's operating I left it. I tried debugging it, but couldn't find the problem. If you want to try to figure it out, the source code is in the second post of that thread. That happened in my previous version before I did the OS detection mod and added the POI Scanner start.

Hey Toyfountain,

That is really good - many thanks.
I am checking it out and I don't have my GPS puck attached - but I can't get 'Z' ,'X','C' or 'V' to work... but I will look at it more later.

Thansk again,

Allan

With the hotkeys that aren't F1,F2,F3....etc but simple letters you need to press F4 first to bring up the menu then press the 'Z' ,'X','C' or 'V' to work. Is this how you tried it?
thompa
Hi there,

Quite correct... I was omitting to press 'F4' first.

Everything works perfectly.

Thanks for a great add-in. Makes Streets and Trips much more user-friendly!

The thanks go to Marvin. If it wasn't for him, Keys would not exist. In a way, he's also responsible for getting me started in the programming because he published his source code. This permitted me to learn how it functions, do a few mods and start the POI Scanner I'm doing.
