Page Up / Page Down stopped working in Microsoft Streets and Trips
rank
Hi all. All of a sudden the Page Up and Page Down keys no longer work in Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007 to control zoom. Has this happened to anyone? This is a crucial feature!

thanks
tcassidy
I thought '+' and '-" controlled zoom. That is what I see in S&T 2005 and 2008. Page Up and Down control the position of the displayed map. Are they dedicated keys on your computer?

... or, have you been using S&T Keys? PgUp and PgDn are zoom hotkeys used by S&T Keys.

Yes, sorry about that. Keys used to allow me to zoom in and out with the page up and page down buttons. But it quit working. Now I must use a mouse to zoom which is a real PITA when driving. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you still using the same version of S&T Keys and the same version of Streets & Trips? If yes, then likely the problem is something else on your computer. Try to restart your computer, and then don't run any other program just S&T Keys and Streets & Trips. See if that helps.

V2.42 of Keys an S&T 2007. Same as always i think. Tried what you suggest. No luck. Does S&T have a hot hey for this in a newer version?
Marvin Hlavac
No, I doubt there is a new keyboard shortcut for the zoom function in any newer version of Streets & Trips. If you wish, post your question to an appropriate support thread for S&T Keys.

Just download the latest 2007 version. You can find the link in my signature below for S&T 2007. The zoom function should work without any problem...

This function is not available anymore in the 2009 version when driving in fullscreen (known issue: it reverts to normal S&T zooming increment). It will only work in window mode. For the 2007 version, it is working correctly in both window/FS mode...

OK I downloaded 3.44. pg up and pg dn still don't work but the + and - keys do so I'm calling that a win. Thanks.

Not sure what good S&T is without goods hot key for zoom. I guess 2009 is off my xmas list. What about the 2010 version?

thanks again

I am happy that it is getting better, but PgUp and PgDn keys are working here with that 2007 version here. It must be something corrupted on your system.

1- Did you open the S&T Keys option panel to check what is the zoom increment set for these keys?
2- Can you click the related screen buttons (+/-) on the map to see if they are working (if these buttons do not appear on top of the map, configure them in S&T Keys option panel)?
3- It can be possible that the PgUp/PgDn keys has been trapped by another global hotkeys from another software (can you shut down most other softwares to verify)???
4- If these keys are trapped in windows globally (can you use them in windows explorer)?
5- Maybe be your keyboard is configured with num lock keys activated and your pgup/pgdn keys are not available for this reason. Are these keys can be used in notepad???

Certainly, do not bother with 2009.

The keyboard shortcuts for zooming are "-" for out and "=" for in. That way you can use the top row of the keyboard without shifting to get "+".

But, also NEW in 2010, you can click and drag a rectangle on the map to zoom in. I concede this is not useful if you are trying to drive and zoom at the same time (is that worse than texting??), so - and = do the job.

In what i can understand, he is trying to use S&T Keys function associated to pgup/pgdn keys in 2007 S&T Keys.

This function is different than the one provided with S&T, in a sense that it allows very precise zooming factor (much more than what is provided by the - and = keys). This zooming increment in S&T Keys is programmable and avoid the big 10 steps zooming (as can be verified on the zoom control) provided by default S&T (pgup/pgdn can be programmed to zoom a very small single increment on the zoom control in S&T Keys)...
SpadesFlush
Yes, I understood that but I was trying to explain how it worked in 2010 which is different from 2007 with regard to zooming and other things. I am sorry I did not make that clearer.

Once again thank you for all the help.

I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes. It was set to 3. I tried changing it but the changes has no affect.

Yes. Clicking them with the mouse does not zoom.

Task manager reveals 30 some processes operating in addition to trips although i have no idea what they are. I am deathly afraid that deleting any of them will result in a blue screen or a no boot or lighting to strike me dead.

huh? They work in explorer, but not to zoom. They act as scroll keys.
