I just looked at the stats of the two specific files. The November.zip file has been downloaded 331 times and the November.stt file shows 191 downloads so far.

331 x 7 MB = 2,317 MB
191 x 20 MB = 3,820 MB

Total for the past few days: = 6,137 MB for the two files :-)

6 GB is just a small portion of our current 100 GB monthly limit. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to have to increase the monthly bandwidth limit because of the popularity of your POI Megafile, Larry.

Question/Request... Is it possible to get all the National Park Visitor Centers added to the Mega File. If you didn't know any better, you would think that the current file (National Parks) was the Visitor Centers instead of Campgrounds... tks

I figured it would be kind of nice to have this in a format that could be used by other software. The simplest seemed to be to get it into Excel. Then it can be saved to .CSV, a format that can easily be converted to other file types by converters like GPS Babel. If I can do that, I'll upload it here so others can use it.

So, I loaded the .stt file into Streets&Trips and saved it as a .est file so it could be loaded into Mappoint.

I downloaded the trial version of Mappoint 2010 and installed it. Then I opened the .est version of the POI megafile in Mappoint 2010.

Now I'm stuck. It appears that two steps are required to get it saved to Excel. First, I need to unhide all of the pushpin sets or nothing will get exported to Excel. Then I need to select the pushpin sets and select "Export to Excel".

Here's my problem. To unhide a pushpin set requires selecting it in the list in the Legend and Overview pane. To save a pushpin set to Excel also requires that it be selected in the Legend and Overview pane.

But I can only select one pushpin set at a time in the Legend and Overview pane. At least I cannot find any way to select more than one. I have tried all the usual ways .. Ctrl-A just brings up the GPS pane. Using either Ctrl-click or Shift-click does nothing.

I don't want this badly enough to go through the entire list, twice, to first unhide each of the pushpin sets, one at a time, and then save each of the pushpin sets to Excel, one at a time.

Is there something simple that I'm missing?

Here is the requirement:

1. Pushpin sets must be unhidden or they will not be exported to Excel.

2. Pushpin sets must be selected or you can't unhide them or export them.

3. I'm not going to do this one at a time. I need a way to select them all so I can, first, unhide them with a single operation and, second, export them all with a single operation.

Any suggestions?

Is there a way to be able to delete multiple pins at one time?

I have tried using Shift and clicking the first and last to be deleted and it does not work.

I have also tried using Ctrl and selecting individual pins to delete and it doesn't work either.

@Ken: Doesn't Mappoint work the same way as S&T in that you can toggle all pushpin sets hidden or not by right-clicking "pushpins" at the top of the legend panel??

@Johnny: It is not clear how you are trying to do what you describe but, if you are doing it from the drop-down list of pushpins under a pushpin sets Properties "Matching" tab, you can make your selection and then click "Cut". That seems to have the effect of deleting from the Matching set and placing them in the clipboard. There, you can ignore them or paste them somewhere else.

But this may not be what you mean.

What I am doing is deleting the sets that are no use to me.

Then save as a new named map.

Now when I open this new saved map all the "junk" sets are not available thus the list of avaiable sets is much shorter.

Your suggestion to right-click Pushpins at the top of the list gets me halfway there. That will unhide everything in one operation.

Now I need a way to select all of the pushpin sets so when I Export to Excel they will all go in a single operation instead of having to do them one set at a time.

Johnny wants to select groups of sets to delete (or copy) rather than having to do them one at a time.

Did Microsoft really not allow for selecting pushpin sets in groups by using Ctrl-click or Shift-click or some other method?

To delete an entire set, I go to Legend and overview {ctrl-G}, select the pushpin set I want to delete, right-click to get the drop-down menu, and click on Delete (or just hit the Delete key or {ctrl-X). Are you trying something else that does not work?

One way would be to show (unhide) all the sets you have a hankering to delete and then select a rectangular area {right-click-drag} around the excess pushpins and select Delete from the drop-down list. I know it is not what you are getting at: Add as a Wishlist Item??

I tried this for a few open (unhidden) sets and I produced a nice spreadsheet showing 4 data fields: lat; lon; name7; and type12 (the pushpin sets name) and a lot of vacant columns. All the PPs seem to be listed.

It seemed to work for me: 86,601 POIs. Too big to attach.
