POI Mega File - pushpin collections for truckers, RVers, and other travelers
The Pushpin set in the November 2010 version of the POI EST file has a balloon reference to halberstadt@mindspring.com. The person at that e-mail address probably created the XLS file that was used in the POI EST file. Why not inquire if he/she is willing to share the XLS file with you?
Thank you, I will give it a try.
Here is the zip:
Thanks Larry,

The file contains Lat, Long, street address but no other info.
Hi, I'm very new to trucking, and just found the post for added S&T. Is there a list for low bridges and restricted routes for Canada? Hate getting surprised in Montreal.
Look at the following trucking link, I am pretty sure you will find all the info you need.

Thnx, I'll check it out.
I'm Truck driver and looked at the POI's that are already included(excellent job) but I have more for Canada like Petro Pass fuel stop, Esso Cardlocks, Husky Cardlocks, DAI Scales, Ryder Truck Repairs, Penske Truck Repairs, Fountain Tires, KAL Tires, as well there are more Weight Scales, Flying J/Shell Stns, Independent Trucks Stops that are not listed. How can or would it be easiest or best for me to submit that information?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the kind words. I, too, would love to have more Canadian POI in the megafile. Here is the deal on contributing data. Data that you create/assemble yourself is great. Data that you pull off from the KAL tires website etc is great. Data collections that you download from other POI sharing sites (like POI-Factory) are not accepted.

You can send anything to me at streetsandtrips[a t]hotmail[d ot]com.
I have just Finished all the Costco and will work on the others. When done I will send the file as directed above. Thanks and look forward work on this...

I notice that the post re: the Mega POI file says updates are welcome (or words to that effect). I noticed that the POI file listing radio stations carrying Rush Limbaugh contained a large number of errors. I spent a full day going through the "Radio-Locator) web site and tried to correct the database. It was rejected out-of-hand for some reason.

I will not speculate as to why but ...!
Any way to add pet stores to this list? I travel alot with my dogs, and they eat Blue Buffalo, food that you can't get at Walmart or other feed stores. Would love to get Petsmart, Petco, Petsense, Pet Supplies Plus, Pet Club, Pet Depot, Pet Stop, and Pet Land on this list.
Hi Ben

Great ideas for a Pet-centric POI collection although I wouldn't probably add these to the POI megafile as they do not reach a wide enough audience. However, customize your own POI megafile and add these dbs yourself.

Send me an email streetsandtrips [at] hotma il{dot}com and I can give you some pointers.

This can only mean one of two things:

1. Larry and the S&T team have finished work on the Streets & Trips 2012 version, release is imminent, and he has more time to do the megafile task, or
2. The 2012 release is a long way off.

I hope it is Number One!

I guess this also means you are not at the Florida RV Show
