I created a route on Streets & Trips 2010 and exported it as a GPX file. Now - where does this file go for Garmin Mobile PC to use it?
I tried using POILoader on it, but it comes up that the file is invalid.

POILoader, as you might guess, is only for loading POIs into Garmin devices (including Mobile PC). It won't load anything else ... not waypoints or routes or anything.
The only way I know, at the moment, is to do it with Mapsource. That is, if you have Mapsource installed you just open the GPX file and transfer the route to Mobile PC. When you next run Mobile PC the new route will be added to your list of saved routes.
I'm not sure how to do it without Mapsource. I've spent the last half hour trying different things but no joy yet.

Could you rename it and replace the 'Current gpx' file at C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Application Data\GARMIN\GarminMobilePC\gpx (Windows XP)? Make sure you back up your own Current.gpx first though.

If you just copy the "xxxxxx.gpx" route file over there and rename it to "current.gpx" Mobile PC spits an error when it runs, creates a file called "tmpcurrent.gpx" and immediately exits.
Mapsource is putting the route file there but it's also doing something else with a couple other Mobile PC data files in the folder above that. They are binary files so I can't figure out what Mapsource is doing to them in order to let Mobile PC know to use the file.
By the way, killing the current.gpx file won't hurt anything as long as you don't mess with any of Mobile PC's files in the folder above that one. You can delete the current.gpx file and next time you run Mobile PC it will create a new one when it exits.

Ok - cool. I'll download it this weekend when I'm home. I'm LOVING Mobile PC so far. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to see POI's on the map while in driving mode. It'd make it a lot easier to know when I'm coming up on a rest area, weigh station, truck stop, etc.
Have you played with the level of detail displayed on the map? POIs will appear if you zoom in tight enough. Try zooming to see when they appear for you. If that's too tight you can change it by changing the level of detail displayed on the map.
Settings > Map > Map Detail ... set it to More or Most and see if that gets the POI display up to a level that works better for you.
The only problem is that there seems to be a bug in Mobile PC so that the labels don't show up, only the icons. It doesn't matter what I set the label size to, they never display. I will have to report that to Garmin.

I have my map detail set to the highest level. I'm not seeing any icons or labels. I did update the program to the latest version on the Garmin website the same day I installed.
Are you seeing the detail maps or just the basemap?
Have you made sure to look in a spot where you know there are POIs?
When you search for a POI, does the icon appear on the map when you select it from the list?
(I don't mean to be insulting. I just need to establish what you have already done so I don't waste time going down ratholes.)

I know the threads old, but you can drop GPX files right into Garmin Mobile PC without using MapSource. I have problems with MapSource seeing GMPC, esp since I upgraded to 5.00.70.
Delete current.gpx from:
Win 7/Vista: Win XP: Delete GARMIN_SRTE.NVM from:
Warning: This will delete all saved routes you have in GMPC.
Win 7/Vista: Win XP: Copy as many GPX files as you want to the folder current.gpx was in. You don't have to rename them, but the GPX file probably needs to have a name in it (like you can give it in mapsource).
Open GMPC, it will show that its importing. Go to your routes and they will be there!
If you are worried about losing your current routes, just save that file instead of deleting it and you can always copy it back in case something goes wrong. current.gpx is more or less a dump file. If you delete it, it just regenerates one using the .NVM files.

Interesting. Since a gpx can contain more than a route, do you have to be concerned about the other nvm files? For example, will waypoints be duplicated?

I am using Mobile PC x10, which I got from Drivegps last month, I just got back from Australia & am trying to get this functional for use on my motorcycle using Samsung UMPC Q1U. Have been using Streets & Trips with some success.
