Could someone please test this in Streets and Trips 2007
rondi

This link contains a pix of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007 trying to locate JGW RV Park south of Redding, CA.

Could a few folks type in the Search window "JGW RV, CA" and see where it locates the park?
On my Desktop and on my Laptop, it finds it in nowhere land--in the lower right of the pix. The correct place is the frontage road next to I5. This is about worthless!

S&T 2007 correctly locates it using the Data folder from 2006 and 2008. S&T 2006 also locates it correctly using the 2006 data folder-- but using the 2007 data folder, it is the same place as using the 2007 program.

So it seems the 2007 data is in error--in a big way!

My recent purchase of S&T 2007 was via eBay, because i returned the unreliable S&T 2008.
Is there a place to download a new data folder which is somewhat accurate? Maybe i just continue using the 2008 data folder with the reliable 2007 program, and manually download the Construction Updates.

Thanks for any tips,
Ron

2/3 correct rv park name--changed JWG to JGW.

Rondi, I only have the new Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 installed in this PC. The location of the RV Park is correct in this version. As a work-around I would suggest not to trust the POI icon position on the map, but instead just copy the address in the POI icon information balloon, and then search for the address.

Marvin thanks for the reply,
Yes that is one way to do it, but my gosh---i certainly don't want to do that for every POI in 2007 s&t!!!

From what i see, it is the 2007 Data that is wrong, since the 2006 & 2008 data work ok with 2007, and the 2007 data fails the same way with the 2006 program.

I was just wondering if others find the same thing, or is it my copy of the 2007 Data???

From what I've seen in Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007 ALL POIs are not accurately positioned (For me, this has been true on older S&T versions as well). Some are positioned correctly, but there are only few. The only work around I know of too is to copy the address from the POI and search it. A big pain, yes. But your only other option is to get 2008...

Rondi:

I just did a search with my Streets and Trips 2007 and got the same "wrong" location as you got. I had to buy this 2007 because my 2008 stopped working.

I did a search for JGW in "Map Source" and got the correct location.

I have also experienced incorrect positions from 2007 quite a few times and always check them with "Map Source". What a shame you can't rely on Streets more than that.

JGW RV Park 6606 Riverland Dr N40 29.391 W122 19.693 2/10/2008 8:12:12 AM

I also did a search on Google Earth and found the "Correct Location" by the river.

I also did a search in "Live Search Maps".

and it found JGW in the correct location also.

If you haven't already, you may want to try this. It's free.

Thanks much--at least it is not just my program/database. That was my concern since i had since i had 2006 installed for years and removed it, then i installed Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 and removed it and then installed 2007. Oh well, i guess we just live with it.

thanks again,
ron
