Apologies but I cannot find answer in the threads or faqs. A link to the right place would be appreciated if it is already there.
I have been using Garmin marine fishfinder for some time and had thought that Mobile PC would provide the answer to the following problems.
A netbook based SatNAv for europe and the USA - Samsung NC20 160gb (120gb free)HDD, Via Nano 1.6ghz processor, running XP sp 3.
I have Garmin Mobile PC loaded with the 20x USB GPS aerial and have updated to the latest version.
I was offered a free upgrade to the USA maps that came with it, but it just will not load - initially just failing and now giving and setup.exe error message.
I was under the impression - false I suspect- that I could load other maps - including blue2 vision charts so that I could look at fishing spots at home rather than on the smaller screen on the fish finder.
I was hoping to be able to upload a map for Turkey ( where I am currently on holiday) and do have a Garmin map on a micro SD card (file names gmpasupp.img & gmapsupp.unl) which is just not found by Mobile PC. I do not have a copy of mapsource - there none on the CD and I cannot find a download site.
My questions are then please
Can I add additional maps to Mobile PC and if so how.

Do you know what format the new map download from Garmin was? It could be it just needs to be in the right folder.
Garmin Mobile PC will not work with SD cards. The SD maps are locked to the individual card and are intended for dedicated units such as your fish finder. Mobile PC only looks in its own folder for maps but copying the one off the card to that folder would not work as the map would be locked.
There is information in the Mobile PC faq on how to add MapSource to a computer that doesn't have it. You might also want to look at the free map listing to see if there is something for Turkey which could meet your needs.

Standard BlueCharts (now discontinued by Garmin) can be used in a laptop with your GPS 20x (if they have been unlocked to the 20x, usually you are allowed to unlock a BlueChart region to two different Garmin devices you own) using Garmin's nRoute navagation software (nRoute has been discontinued and is no longer supported by Garmin but can still be downloaded from other sources, search this forum for "nRoute").
I'm not aware of any software that will let you use the newer Garmin BlueChart g2 or g2 vision charts on your laptop or home computer except Garmin's "HomePort" just released.
