I have been using Microsoft Streets and Trips for some years on a number of different laptops and different versions. Currently using version 2008, with an other supplier GPS-not Microsoft.
Tthe one problem that I have that is common to all the laptops as well as all previous versions, is when I zoom in to the maximum zoom level. the map freezes and the GPS icon disappears.
Aafter some minutes it may or may not resume GPS function.
This is most annoying when navigating in a city and you want real detail.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, and is there a solution?

I have read about this problem on this site. However, not ever having the problem myself, I don't recall the solution. I suggest a site search for "zoom freezes 2008."

I'm not sure if what you are experiencing is related to the old 'create GPS trail' bug or not. Do you use that feature?
One good way to check is to download the free 60 day trial of S&T 2010 and see if you still see the problem.

yes, i do use the gps trail feature nearly all the time. will try the 2010 version.
also will try without using the trail in the version i am using.

I remember that in the 2007 version, there was an issue that sometime the gps icon is going out of the screen for different situations. I know that this problem was solved in the 2009 version, but i don't remember if it was already solved in the 2008 version (because i didn't use the 2008 version myself and switched from 2007 to 2009 directly )
