Fix volume control - that is, add one!

Right now, Microsoft Streets & Trips plays at a fixed volume - and it seems quite low compared to other software outputs, including Media Player. I haven't checked 2010 to see if it's a new feature there, but in case it isn't - Output volume control, please!

No, but Streets & Trips 2010 can mute WMP. So adjust output volume to hear S&T comfortably and adjust WMP volume to suit.

Well, that is an improvement, and (apart from the new temp "mute" feature) is what I do now; but WMP is not the only audio software I use. Plus, the FM transmitter I use for broadcasting to my car's audio system 'likes' a higher volume than S&T has when my system is at full (which results in raising the noise threshhold on my laptop's audio card, and causes hiss).

For curiosity, did you try to play with the 2 related volumes (the wav one and the general one)?

To appease the curiosity, yes. A lot of the files I work with are .WAV so I generally set that volume control fairly high anyway.

A couple of versions ago, they included a louder version of Microsoft Anna with Streets & Trips. That helped a bit, but I think there is still room for making Streets and Trips louder. S&T's own volume control would be nice to have, too.

There are 3rd-party software amplifiers available, too. Check out the link in the post #20 in the following thread:

Laptop speakers not loud enough. What can I do?
