I have not been able to get construction updates for several weeks in Microsoft Streets and Trips 2010. I have tried to repair the program and that did not help. Any other suggestions?
To somewhat answer my own question, I went to the microsoft downloads site and downloaded the most recent construction update for MS S&T 2010, and replaced the file, as instructed, in the Program Data/Microsoft/Microsoft Streets & Trips/17.0/Data folder. Then I re-booted the system and brought MS S&T back up and when I bring up an itinerary, it still says my construction data is out-of-date.
So, I still have the same dilemma, am I updated or not?

Tom, Microsoft releases these updates monthly. Wait till the next one is out to see if you have a better luck.
OK, thanks Marvin. The only other choice was to change the registry value, and since that has yet to be updated for the 2010 version, I thought I wouldn't risk ruining my new computer system. [Grin].

We just published the new construction files for Jan 2010. The current Dec file will expire on the 9th. The easiest way to get the update to create a route and you'll see a link in the itinerary instructions saying your construction data is out of date. Click on that and you'll be up to date.
Tom did you try this method or just the manual replacement? Remember that there is a different construction file created for every supported version/year so you'll need to be careful which one you download and also know where to put it. Try again on the 9th or 10th and let us know what happens.

Yes, I did try that technique [I don't know of another within the program], and with several different itineraries - two 2010 trips and three 2011 and future trips.
Every time I try to update using the line in the Directions box, it gave me the error after it "seemed" to start the download. The little green line that depicts the download percent only gets about halfway across and then stops and I get the "Unable to download at this time, try later" kinda message. Its frustrating to buy a 2010 update to a product I already owned and have simple routines like a construction update fail for no logical reason.
