Search on Live Search Dropping Last Found POI

I had difficulty with my initial install and the Search on Live Search function did not work. With Larry's good help, SOLS was up and running with a re-install. Now, I am beginning to use it.

Here is the situation: I have previously created a route and saved it. This map has on it a location that I found using SOLS; we will call it "Ski." Ski has its own icon created by S&T. I want to add Ski to the route and add a second location, we'll call it "HF", that I find with SOLS.

The problem is that SOLS removes Ski from the route and adds HF when it finds it. Ski's icon disappears from the map, also. If I reverse the process having HF in the route and search with SOLS for Ski, then HF is bumped off the route and map.

SOLS is acting as if it will only allow Streets & Trips to have one item that it has found to be utilized at a time.

Suggestions?

It appears that I am discovering the answer to my own question; the best way to learn... I have discovered that SOLS is initiating two separate searches, one each for Ski and HF. I can highlight/select the search for Ski and add it to the route, then, highlight/select the HF search and add it to the route.

I would still appreciate any guidance offered.

Okay, I really don't have a handle on this. I could use a step by step tutorial on adding multiple stops (found using the Search on Live Search feature) to a single route.

The way I am doing it, the first POI found with SOLS and added to the route is removed from the route by the subsequent POI found on SOLS and added to the route.

Using ST 2008, I was able to create a route between several online search results. Maybe I am not doing the same steps as what you are doing. Can you please tell me the exact steps that you are using to add online search results to your route?

Thanks for the help! I can attempt to add the SOLS found POI by either of two methods:
1) Highlight its icon, making it appear in the route bar and then hit the Add to Route Button, or
2) Highlight its icon, Right Click/Route/Add to Route

Either way, the new SOLS POI is added and the previous SOLS POI is deleted...

FYI for others reading this thread: The discussion is about a feature implementation that is specific to the S&T 2008 version.

I'm trying to figure this one out. If you are saying that Streets & Trips 2008 does not display the online search results from multiple queries on the map AT THE SAME TIME - then you are correct.

S&T 2008 stores up to 3 online search query results and you can switch between the 3 result sets but you cannot see them all at once. Look at the bottom of the Live Search Results pane and you can see the previous searches.

If you perform a 4th online search then the oldest search gets bumped to make room for the new online search result.

However, if you add any of the individual online search result locations to your route they will not go away.

Let me know if I've missed your point entirely :-)

Thanks for joining in... Those are things I didn't know, but I don't think they apply in this instance... I am only dealing with two searches... I add the POI of the first quirey to the route and then make a second quirey. When I add the POI from the second quirey to the route, the first POI is removed from the route. It could be a procedural problem... That's why I asked for step by step instructions... So I could compare to what I am doing...

Sounds pretty simple the way you are describing it yet I still don't see my existing route points removed.

As you've requested....here are my steps:

First Search:
1. Launch S&T 2008
2. Ctrl+k (to open the what/where pane)
3. Enter a valid online search query such as "Pizza" "Kent, WA"
4. Right-click on one of the numbered pushpin icons on the map and choose Route --> Add as Start
5. Ctrl+r (open the route planner to verify that a green starting point now exists)

Second Search:
1. Ctrl+k (to open the what/where pane)
2. Enter a valid online search query such as "ice cream" "Eugene, OR"
3. Right-click on one of the numbered pushpin icons on the map and choose Route --> Add as Stop
4. Ctrl+r (open the route planner to verify that a yellow stop has now been added to the list)
[optional: get directions at this point or wait until after 3rd search location has been added to the route.]

Third Search:
1. Ctrl+k (to open the what/where pane)
2. Enter a valid online search query such as "rental" "Bend, OR"
3. Right-click on one of the numbered pushpin icons on the map and choose Route --> Add as End
4. Ctrl+r (open the route planner to verify that a Red location has been added to the list)

Click "Get Directions"

Results: Route is generated between the 3 route points from the online search results.
