Any idea if these new Backroad GPS Maps would work with Garmin Mobile PC? It says it works with MapSource.
I'm not sure. Based on the description on the website and my understanding of how Garmin's maps work it cannot be determined.
I'm in conversation with BackroadsMaps right now, as a result of your question. I expect to get a definitive answer with details shortly (day or so). The product is only about three weeks old so the fellow I spoke with doesn't know all the answers yet and is eager to understand it better himself.
Thanks for the heads-up. I've been using the books for the Kootenays and SW Alberta for years and love them. I love the idea of being able to put the maps on my GPS.

Yes, the Backroad GPS Maps are compatible with Garmin Mobile PC. However, this involves a special loading procedure (send to device from MapSource.)

Re: working with Mobile PC, does the DVD version require an unlock code like the Garmin maps do? If so, it will definitely work with the deluxe versions that come bundled with a Garmin GPS receiver but it may not work with the software-only version.

It has been developed substantially over the past few days thanks to the issues raised by the questions in this thread. Thanks to Gary (EHCaddis) for bringing the new product to our attention and asking some good questions. And thanks to the folks at Backroad Mapbooks for being so responsive in building out the FAQ page to cover so many of the questions that Laptop users will have.
