ALK CoPilot Live 11 won't install on Windows 7: Error 1603
I just bought ALK CoPilot Live v11 and tried to install it on my new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. It won't install. Gives me a error code of 1603, which is a code staying it won't install.

Does anybody know if v11 will work with Windows 7?
Are you running the 64bit version of Windows 7? If so, that's the problem. CoPilot is a 32bit only program.
Thank you for your quick reply. I looked at the original box, and it says it would run on XP & Vista. I didn't think it would not run on Windows 7 if it was 64 bit. I checked my laptop, and it is 64 bit. I then checked ALK CoPilot's website, and I found a mention that it would not work on 64 bit.

I couldn't find a work around on their site for this. So, now, I'll have to find a used 32 bit laptop on e-bay, so I can run this program.

Again, thank you for your quick response.

This appears to be a good site, so I'll visit it a lot.
One of these days ALK may release a new version of CoPilot that'll run on both 64bit and can handle wide-screen monitors, but I'm not holding my breath.
CoPilot WILL work on Windows 7 64 bit, but you have to upgrade to Professional. Then download and install in XP Mode.

This is the work around I did, and I got it to work. The hard part was getting the GPS to work, and then to work the second time because I forgot how I did it the first time.

When you open up the XP Mode window, it will have a USB button, and you will need to ATTACH your GPS EACH time you start up XP Mode. You will only need to install the drivers for your GPS once.

Good luck, and from all that I have seen CoPilot is still the best TRUCK GPS out there.
I loved version 9, then they turned around and put out the garbage called version 11. That flat out wouldn't run on my system. When I called ALK about it, they said they were working on a patch for it. That was over a year and a half ago and there's still no updates for version 11.
