I just purchased Garmin Mobile PC. I have installed:

Garmin Mobile PC - North America NT 2009
Garmin Mobile PC v5.00.70
Garmin nRoute 2.76
Latest Garmin MapSource (from garmin.com), version 6.15.11

I did get around the MapSource installation error by applying a trick (installing some training center software first). MapSource loads up fine.

After loading nRoute I get this error:
It seems like my maps are not compatible? How do I get around this? Am I supposed to install another version of MapSource?

The maps included with Mobile PC are compiled image files only. They are not available for MapSource or nRoute.

If you actually have recent maps that work with MapSource (you implied that but did not list any), they are not compatible with nRoute. However a tool called MapReverseConverter is available to overcome that issue. Regardless of its title page, it works fine with North American products and the latest version of MapSource.

as mentioned in the original comment. So I will need mapreverseconverter to convert that map so it would be compatible with nroute?

The map that comes with Mobile PC is not available for MapSource. Do you have a map that displays in MapSource?

Hmm... I do not think I have any mapsource maps... I will google for and download some mapsource maps and see if that resolves the issue

Alright, found some random map of Australia. Works beautifully! Where can I find other MapSource maps? Looking for North America mainly.

Check out Open Street Maps as one possibility.
