SatNav Technologies India Introduces Laptop GPS Navigation & Trip Planning Software
Marvin Hlavac
SatNav Technologies, a pioneer of GPS Technology in India, now adds a PC software to its wide range of GPS products. The Windows program can be used on a desktop, in your home or office, as a trip planning tool, and it can also be used in your car, on a laptop, in conjunction with a USB or Bluetooth GPS receiver, as a navigation tool. The new product is based on software by Destinator Technologies.

SatNav's GPS products are sold under the brand SatGuide. As of this morning (March 4, 2008) I don't see the new offering mentioned at www.satguide.in, but moneycontrol.com has the story: http://www.moneycontrol.com/india/news/pressnews/satguidelaptopsdesktops-for-corporate/19/45/328931

India based SatNav Technologies originally launched the laptop/desktop version of SatGuide only for the corporate market. However, because of the demand from customers, the company is now making the trip-planning and GPS navigation software program available also in the retail market.

Is any of our readers based in India? Anyone has had the opportunity to try this product, yet?

Hi to all on this GPS forum. I'm new to GPS, and am waiting for my Bluetooth receiver to come. I will be using it as a phone enabled device firstly, then when I get mobile, probably on a laptop (mini notebook). I travel to India a lot for a 6 month holiday every year, so if it works on my viewty, I could use it and report back via Internet cafes. Bombay to Calcutta, then to Orrisa is commonly my route. Delhi to Amritsar/Jammu I've done. Goa/Kerala/Madras a few times. If I had maps of Nepal available, these could come in handy. My next trip is about August time. I travel light by train, so knowing where I am in the night is good to know.

Anyway, that's it for my first post. I'm new to GPS, so I will be scanning the forum for a while if I have any problems.

Jim, if you try SatGuide software on your laptop, please do spend a few moments in an Internet Cafe during your travels across India, and post a review. It would be highly appreciated.
