Why does DeLorme Street Atlas show routes as straight lines between vias?

Why does Street Atlas show routes as straight lines between Via's not following the roads? Any way to change this?

I can't find an option that allows a direct route (not on roads) except on a handheld. What version ot SA are you using and is it on a PC or PPC?

Thanks, Terry. I have Street Atlas installed on both a desktop and a laptop, both runniing XP. The problem I am discussing relates to the display of a route as it is being developed by adding "via's". The display show the route as a straight line between the "via's" points, disregarding the actual roads. This is unlike Streets and Trips, which I am more familiar with. Why does Street Atlas do this and is there a setting to cause the display to track the roads instead?

I guess you need input from someone with more experience of SA than me. Placing start, end and via points using the green, red and yellow icons at the top of the screen always gives me routes on roads. With S&T, I have to click on 'Get directions' to show any connections at all. You are obviously asking about a different approach I am not fully conversant with.

Mine was doing that when I inserted a start point and then pun in a via. Try inputting both start and stop points before inserting any vias. Good luck.
