Make "Preferred Roads" default in segments

After planning a trip, one thing that got very tiresome was having to apply "preferred roads" in the segments every single time.

I tried using a template but that didn't work (it did keep my "preferred roads" preferences, which was nice). But I still had to apply "preferred roads" to each segment.

This is a default user option I would love to see implemented.

In the meantime, there is a workaround (while it is not exactly what you asked for, it will automate the job of doing it). Download S&T Keys matching your S&T year version (see links in my signature) and install this free addon tool.

When you are planning your route and want to apply for segments your preferred road settings, you may use the "P" hotkey while navigating in fullscreen, or press "F4" to get S&T Keys Menu then "P" hotkey. This will apply your preferred roads settings to all your current route segments. You may do this with gps active or not.

To configure S&T Keys preferred road settings (do this just one time), just press "F4" key, then the "options" button. Then click on the "Preferred road types" tab and choose the road settings you prefer. You need to do this only one time, than each time you use the "P" hotkey as explained above, it will configure all your route segments according your preference automatically (if you have a lot of segments, it could be a little on the long side, but you can do other things while the computer is working for you )

Thank you, MisterMoonlight. I'll give S&T Hotkeys a try. Last time I was here, 2010 wasn't ready yet.

I have another long trip to plan along Route 66, so that will be very helpful.
