Need help to reverse convert CNNANT_2010_10 map for use with nRoute
peterparch
I am having problems trying to convert my CNNANT_2010_10 map file so that it can be opened by Garmin nRoute. I have tried editing and using the "here613.bat" file in the "cne2010" subfolder of MapTool(version 5.1) by making the following revisions to the .bat file:

MAPNAME=CNNANT_2010_10
MAPFID=450 (is this the correct family ID for this map?)
MAPFIDHEX=C201
KEYINST=CNNANT2010

After running the batch file, the .img and other files and other files are successfully installed in the designated output directory and "City Navigator North America NT2010.1" shows up in the product list of nRoute. But when I try to open that map I get an error message advising to copy the error log and and email it to Garmin Support. I don't have problems opening other installed maps with nroute or in opening City Navigator with Mapsource.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

MapReverseConverter is the app you need, but I see the owner of the app, JaVaWa, has taken it offline JaVaWa GPS-tools | Use City Navigator Europe NT with MapSource 6.13.7
The website states that he will email it to you if you request it.

Yes, I have requested that program but in the meantime I was trying to use the Gmaptool procedure that was outlined in a Mar 3/09 post by Ken in Regina.

I have succeeded in reverse converting the CNNANT_2010_10 map file so that it works with nroute. In my previous attempts I had not revised the TYPNAME in the here613.bat file from the CNE name to the CNNANT name. After making this correction the program worked successfully and I am now able to use City Navigator in nRoute.

Glad you got it to work, Peter. The devil is definitely in the details. After wrestling with that ugly batch file you will find MapReverseConverter to be a joy to use. I like to keep my maps up to date but I still haven't found a new version of Mapsource that's worth my time so I still use 6.13.7 when I need to get something done. MapReverseConverter has made it so much simpler to convert the maps to use in the older version of Mapsource.
