How to import routes to Garmin nRoute?
yanbros
Hi,

I'm currently using Mapsource 6.13.7 and nRoute 2.7.6. I like how you can copy and paste routes to an fro. Previously was using Garmin Mobile PC 5.00.70g. I was having problems transferring routes.

Anyway, I downloaded some .gpi files. How do I import it into nRoute?

Routes in MapSource are saved in gdb files. To use them in nRoute, you have to change the file type in Save As to Garmin GPS Database Version 2

Thanks, that got my POI into nRoute. But I also have a .gpi file which I wish to know how to transfer to nRoute.

.gpi files are custom POI files. I don't know of any way to get them into nRoute. As far as I know nRoute does not know about custom POIs like Mobile PC does.

You might be able to use something like GPSBabel (online site) to convert from .gpi to .gpx. If you can do that, you can open the .gpx file in Mapsource and transfer the waypoints to nRoute.

There is a GPI to GPX converter on this page:

Convert CSV, GPX, OV2, KML, LMX, etc.

Just scroll down to find it.

If you do much work with custom POIs, you should look at their Extra POI Editor (first item on the page).
