Updating maps in Garmin Mobile PC error: Device not supported
opfor2
I am upgrading and replacing my old Panasonic Toughbook CG-72 with a new Toughbook CF-29 in my vehicle. I installed the Garmin Mobile PC software off of the DVD and that went well. I saved the map update on an external drive and I am attempting to update the maps and I am having a problem. I was able to get my product unlock code from my on line profile and when I attempt to install the program it asks that I plug in my GPS device and upon doing the install program informs me "device not supported" I have attempted this both with and without the GPS plugged in any ideas?

Thanks

It is supposed to be done without the GPS connected contrary to the instructions. If it still doesn't work, contact Garmin by phone or email. We know they have dealt with this problem before from others on the site and are generally very helpful.

EDIT. I am assuming from your description you are using the version of Mobile PC that comes with a GPS (USB 20x or BT 10x). The software only version does not support map upgrades.

I finally got it to work. I had to copy the large file to the computer for some reason it would not work while on the external drive. weird and yes the USB GPS receiver MUST not be connected to the computer otherwise it will not work.

Thanks for all your help
