Thanks Ken. I suppose the change of the scroll wheel to zoom is ok but it takes some getting used to. Now I will have to use the hand instead of magnifier as my mouse feature of choice.

* Changed 'seasonal closures' avoidance option to 'date and time closures'. MapSource will now route over roads that have time-of-day and seasonal closures if this avoidance option is not checked.
Interesting. It's nice to at least have the option to disable and enable routing via time-of-day and seasonal closures. Ideally, GPS software should be aware of time-of-day, day-of week, and season, and routing should be adjusted accordingly. But I have not yet seen a product that deals with time-of-day traffic restrictions based on actual time-of-day. They all simply avoid routing through there at all times, even if the restriction may be only for between the hours of 7 am to 9 am, and even if it happens to be a completely different time of day.

I realize this is not a trivial feature to implement, and there are several variables to consider.

This latest version is not worth the trouble. I downloaded this file (MapSource 6.16.1), copied it to the folder where the previous version is installed, and then double clicked on it which updated the previous version. Then I ran it installed it, and found that when I loaded previously saved (select) maps and waypoints that the selected maps appeared OK, and the waypoints too, BUT the 'tags' for the waypoints were not there, and I could not select those waypoints

I quickly uninstalled and went back to the previous version. Don't bother with it.

I did an upgrade via the program itself and it seems to work fine. When I open a previous gdb file, the routes, tracks and waypoints display fine and behave as I would expect.

I downloaded it and installed on top of old version and everything worked fine. I even used the beta ver with no problems. My favorite change IS the scroll wheel zoom.

Strange! That's my least favourite change. I guess it is all what you are used to.

I'm with Karen. I never liked the vertical panning with the scroll wheel. I've gotten used to zooming with the scroll wheel in Google Earth, Streets&Trips, etc.

I did as you and Karen. I just downloaded the latest and ran the installer so it installs right over the previous version. Works just fine.

jparnold, what do you mean by waypoint "tags" aren't there? I would like to test this but I don't understand what they are. Do you mean the symbols (icons) that are assigned to them to display their location on the map?

What I have trouble with is the mini map. The hand moves the map instead of the highlighted area which I find totally non-intuitive. I usually don't use it as it is annoying.

+1!!

A perfect illustration of "counterintuitive". Completely bass-ackwards for my pea brain.
