Dragging Route in nRoute
werdnanostaw
Hi everyone

We have just entered Turkey from Greece so I've had to leave the safe world of AutoRoute behind.

I am using Garmin nRoute 2.7.6.

I haven't used it since we were in New Zealand last year and I've forgotten how to click on the route to drag it to a new location.

It's something like create waypoint, activate and then click on it but I just can't remember the sequence.

Can someone please enlighten me or point me to a site that explains what I have to do?

Hi Andrew,

Sounds like a great trip!

In nroute, with the route active...

- right-click on the route line on the screen between the points where you want to alter the route .. when you right-click on it you might also get some other map features listed .. right-click on the route name,

- click on "Insert route section",

- you will see the mouse cursor change from the pointer or hand to a route tool and you will see a black line from the start point of that section to the route tool and from the route tool to the next point in the route,

- simply click on the point you want to divert the route through and it will automatically be recalculated.

The secret is right-clicking on the route line of the active route between the points where you want the diversion and right-clicking again on the route name to get the context menu with the "Insert route section" item. After that it's really obvious and quite easy.

Hmm

I've tried your instructions but I never get the option you describe when I right click.

Is it dependent on version of nRoute or map you are using?

I tried it. Evidently you have to "save" the route first.

I'm using version 2.7.6.

The maps should make no difference as long as they are routable maps.

I have four routes on my ROUTES tab. I can click on any one of them and click to "Show on map". Then I can zoom to any section of the route and it just works the way I described it ... right-click on the section of the route you want to divert, right-click on the route name, click on the point you want to divert the route through and it recalculates to include that point in the route.

Hi Guys

Thank you for your replies.

It has just started working. I'm sure it wasn't before.

I still haven't got an exact "recipe" for activating it. I will post it here once I've worked out the exact sequence of steps.

I'm sure Ken's is correct but it didn't work for me at first.

Hi Andrew,

It's critical where you click on the route to make sure you get the route name to pop up so you can right-click on it to get the correct context menu with the "Insert route section" selection in it.

If you move the mouse pointer even fractionally as you right-click the first time and move just slightly off the route line you might not get the route name as one of the items to select. If you don't get the route name as an item to select, you can't do anything further.

Can you be more specific about what you are seeing (or aren't seeing) - e.g. versus what I've described - when it doesn't work?

When I tried it, it didn't work when it was an "on-the-fly" route so to speak. For instance, if you just select a waypoint, right-click and select "route to it", the active route gave a different right-click context menu. When I saved the route and it appeared under the saved routes tab, then I got the context menu with the "Insert route section" option.

Thanks Karen. I didn't even try it that way so I wasn't aware there might be another result. I only did it with routes that are listed on the Saved Routes tab. I already had some there and created a couple more to test with.
