I've got unlocked (single) .img maps, and have been told to use them with Garmin Mobile PC. I should place the unlocked .img file in the installation directory of Garmin Mobile PC. It comes up in Tools > Manage my data > Map sets, but I'm not sure how I'm meant to view it. I go to the main screen with the GPS arrow, but there's no background map. I don't have a GPS - I'm using Mobile PC because I haven't been able to convert maps (perhaps because they're NT format) with mapset toolkit. My Mobile PC version is 5.00.10g - thanks in advance.

Have you purchased Mobile PC? The fact that you are seeing a blank screen suggests that you don't have the purchased version. It comes with a world basemap so you should never see a blank screen. If Mobile PC's current location (default's to Garmin's headquarters in Olath, KS) is not somewhere in the detailed maps it will display the basemap information for the current location. It will never display a blank screen if the world basemap is there.

It turns out that my basemap was misplaced in my Mapsource folder. Copied it over to the mobile pc root directory and now I'm good to go. However, browsing maps in Garmin Mobile PC is very difficult - not very easy to just scroll, and more lag than Mapsource. Is there a way to transfer Mobile PC maps to Mapsource? I've tried using mapset toolkit to convert them, but it only spits out errors. They're meant to be free, unlocked maps, but they're in NT format, so GPS map edit won't view them, either. Is there any way for Mobile PC to "send" them to Mapsource, or vice-versa?
