Microsoft Forums?

Are there any plans to add a new Microsoft web forum for MapPoint and Streets & Trips, with the imminent demise of the Microsoft newsgroups?

There is already a forum for Bing Maps, and this is already receiving occasional off-topic queries regarding MapPoint. I usually try to give a short answer and point them to MP2KMag/MapForums. Eric Frost's MP2KMag/MapForums and Marvin Hlavac's LaptopGPSWorld provide valuable community forums for these products, but it seems an official forum should exist as well? Otherwise, the Bing Maps forum will receive even more off-topic posts.

The existing newsgroups only have a moderate level of traffic, so I think MapPoint and Streets & Trips could be safely combined.

When microsoft.public.uk.autoroute closed a week or two ago, the following message was posted:

I'm watching the remaining two newsgroups daily to see what the suggested category is going to be for S&T and MP.
"Windows7" seems a bit too big and general to include MapPoint/Streets & Trips/AutoRoute!

Yes, those topics get lost there.
Hi All,

Good news!

The old MapPoint and Streets & Trips forums are in the process of being migrated from NNTP to the improved forums format. They will not be combined into one forum.

The Pocket Streets forum will not be migrated...RIP

When the new forums are up and running I'll be sure to post the URLs here. No ETA info at this time.
Thanks Larry - good news!

I think I'd forgotten there was a Pocket Streets newsgroup! It isn't something I've done anything with, although at one point my Pocket Streets page was getting a lot of web hits and was ranked highly in Google. It only explained what Pocket Streets was, but I think all the other competing pages disappeared when the product was discontinued.

Any plans for AR? I wish AR & S&T were marketed under one name instead of two different names. Everything would be much simpler.
Larry: it looks like they were combined into one Streets & Trips forum:

Streets and Trips Forum

There's a Streets & Trips folder with one forum - presumably AutoRoute and MapPoint could also be added, although the announcement post in the old MapPoint newsgroup points to the Streets & Trips forum.
