Updated Earth Bridge
nevadagary
The more I use Earth Bridge the more I like it better than GooPS, but I also would like to see the "always on top" remote control that is supposed coming out, or already out or???

Does anybody know if this is going to happen, or when? I would like to be able to change eye elevation with a click of the mouse instead of shrinking the Google Earth screen and fumbling around in the main Earth Brisge console.

The best feature of Earth Bridge is the ability of the program to orient the Google Earth screen exactly like a regular GPS, always points up in the direction one is traveling.

Anyone could explain me how to use Earthbridge, please?

Install Earthbridge on your computer. Have Google Earth and a USB GPS installed beforehand. Just click on Earthbridge and select the parameters you want and start it. It is automatic. Google Earth will start and point you to where you are. I love it because it turns in the direction you are heading... just like a regular GPS... rather than staying in a static position like a map, like GooPS does.

I'm reviving this thread because it has been a long time since I have been on this forum... My junk Jeep blew a head gasket and sat in my driveway for almost 6 months before I was able to fix it and then I sold it, but now have a Bronco that I use off road and my netbook with Google Earth and Eartbridge is back up and running. So I'm asking again, does anybody know of any upgrades to Earthbridge?? I went to their site, but their explanations were as clear as mud. Also what upgrades has GooPS accomplished??

The big Download button at the top of the Earthbridge home page says:

Current Version: v0.9.4.29

The lower section of the page describing the program's History says that version was released on February 1, 2006.

On the right side of the GooPS home page is a menu containing, among other things, "Revision History". The newest entry at the top of the revision history is:

2.5.13 6/2/11 ... bug fixes, startup crash fix ... etc.

Translated, that means version 2.5.13 is the latest and it was released on June 2, 2011.

Now that wasn't so hard, was it?

Yeah, I saw that, but I thought maybe somebody here had some inside information... guess not. I downloaded the latest version of GooPS, but still prefer Earthbridge. Oh well, I can use the version of Earthbridge I have now, but I still wish it had the features I described.

Hello nevadagary,

GooPs Plus and GooPs Pro have the ability to turn in the direction you are heading (AutoView Rotate). You can also configure Rotate to view your vehicle from any direction, (rear, front, left, right, etc.) not just rear.

You can play with the AutoView Rotate in GooPs demo mode.

Please let me know if there are other GooPs features that you would like to see.
